This one popped up on my radar when I was looking for a V8 estate. So much car for the money IMO.

Coincidentally what's the service history like?
Mine had no proof that the timing belt had been done so I done it myself.

There isn't a record of the cambelt being done and its also due a service hense why it was priced so cheap compared to other ones for sale at the moment. Apart from that the service history is good so I'm not worried about the condition of the engine etc... The only thing I've spotted is when I took the covers off of the engine to clean them I noticed both manifold air flap linkages are snapped (a common fault) so they need doing too.

ill do it myself as I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade and it doesn't worry me. Even if the auto box decides to pop in future ill probably just buy a donor manual 4.2 and convert this wink

new update...

got my genuine Audi OEM built in sat nav and bluetooth through the post so set about fitting it biggrin

new kit waiting to go in...

old radio

and fitted cool

and with a little bit of VAG-COM coding it has full communication with the car and drivers info display clap

yes the trim colour is slightly lighter than the climate control module below but when that gets replaced anyway due to the worn buttons ill get the post 2002 version which is lighter

very happy with it, built in sat nav and Bluetooth hands free was the only thing i knew id miss from the Passat and now this has it. pretty bang up to date for a 2001 car hehe

1) put some fuel in it
2) why is your check engine light on?
3) love the nav upgrade smile

1) I know, guess I've been having to much fun hooning this past week smile
2) its due to the two intake manifold air valve linkages being broken as I said above.
3) cheers, me too biggrin

That exhaust noise is horrible! It was quite a good car before, why ruin it by making it sound like a boy racer's Corsa? confused
Please see below or alternatively read it the first time before posting rolleyes

Which is VERY loud due to a PREVIOUS OWNER removing both rear silencers laugh

as for the exhaust, ive already spoken to a mate of mine whos garage does custom exhaust fabrication. Hes going to add a couple of small silencers back into the system to make it a bit more sociable (also because i don't think the dogs like being in the boot with that noise right under them rofl). At the same time he is going to add some bigger tail pipes, nothing OTT but enough to fill the bumper cut outs a bit better.
