my new V8 family wagon

Cheers guys, it's Good to be back.
Bought plenty of goodies for the car while I've been away so updates will be frequent
The latest of which just arrived in the post this morning, Porsche Cayenne turbo front Brembo calipers to go with the new discs I already have in the garage.

Love that massive caliper. I'm not sure about the exhausts, for me it's quality not quantity, bit too loud for me. I look forward to hearing the fabricated replacement.
I love the skies in the videos, and the birds in the second one.
I'm not mechanically gifted so the potential for an autobox meltdown scares me witless.
That's a great price for such a car. The interior shots reek of quality, I was even perving the headlining.
The styling of the C5 Avant is really well proportioned and tasteful to my eyes.

What discs are you going to run that will work with the Cayenne calipers? Also is it a custom set of brackets needed for the calipers?
Using 350mm Mercedes ML500 discs from models after 2006The ML55 discs used to fit these calipers to other VAG cars wont work with the S6 because it has a different offset hubs to give the wider track.
I'm also using the smaller 17Z pads because the 18Z ones over hang the inner edge of the discs swept area.
No custom brackets needed as the mounting hole spacing is the same. It just needs some bushes made or shouldered bolts as the holes are a larger diameter than the S6 uses.
Went to see the in-laws today and picked up some other new bits that had been delivered there while I was away.
DVD player and headrest screens for the kids.
Eibach coilovers.
Just waiting for SWMBO to drop (she was due weds) so I can get some time in the garage

Recently released I haven't updated this in AGES.
Shortly after my last post my second son was born. Since then I've been tinkering with the Audi as and when I get the chance.
DVD player and screens have been fitted.
Front grill was getting tatty so has been painted black.
PH Smiley fitted. Excuse the dodgy photo effect, it looked better on my phone )
Finally (and my favorite), the Cayenne front brakes have been fitted after being painted in the traditional Audi black with some custom made "S6" decals. really pleased with the way they came out.

lovely motor, glad you got rid of the straight through. I'd love a V8 estate in my life but that fuel economy would make me cry.
I think the alloys are a tad big but each to their own, but I do like their design (I prefer the comfort of something slightly smaller, maybe 18s on a car that size).
Welcome back too

Shes been looking sorry for herself lately so today I cracked out the snow foam and gave her a proper wash.
Much better. Hard to tell but you might be able to spot the latest modification. Removal of the drug dealer tints.
I also went out and did a new quick video of the new exhaust. The engine is warm but she's been sat on the drive for a while, hence the steam.

Cracking motor mate, really fancy one of these.
Not to highjack your thread but after having a cheeky look for one online I decided to check out their stats and noticed (on paper/parkers) that they only do 0-60 in 6.6 despite the 335bhp on tap, I know the weight is 1800kg something but that seems a little slow, seems pointless chopping in the 330i for that if its such a minor gain, unless its much faster than the book says?

No worries. You're right, it is a bit slower than its BHP figure might otherwise suggest. The weight of the avant doesn't help and the fact that it has an old school Torque converter auto and 4wd saps some of the power before it gets to the road.
Personally though I think (as with most cars) 0-60 is a bad stick to measure it against. The auto box only has 5 gears which are very long to take it up to the 155mph limiter. Where it shines is the in gear torque; I never have a problem overtaking in the S6

Not much birdsong in that one though.
