According to CAP anyway.
Retaining 53.3% of its value after 3 years.

I would not call that investment in any case.

Probably retains 55.3% of base price without extras. Add in £20k of extras for which you get bugger all back and it then retains nearer 45%.

Could only be described as an investment by using 'man maths'.

Given that none of them are one year old yet, let alone three, that's a very precise prediction.

Would you rather lose 75% of a £30k car than 30% of a £75k car?
Fact is no modern 911 is an investment. Whether they're worth the cost depends on how much money you have.

I think that buying 911s and then selling them for more than you paid is actually an "investment".
perhaps the 991 is the least badly depreciating new car. An investment? Not.

another pointless debate!porsches are bought to enjoy if you can afford to spend £100k on a car then why not who cares how much it will lose it will still be a lot less than some other sports cars. you could lose a lot more than £4k a year by smoking 40 a day

I genuinely spend weeks or months coming very close to spending 130+ grand on a supercar. I get the wife (very reluctantly) semi-bought-in, we talk about how we can afford it, the compromises it'll entail, but that it's my dream and you only live once etc etc. To the wife's massive relief I end up buying something for 'only' 70k because I end up 'seeing sense' and being the 'mature' 38yr old that I am. If I didn't do this, I'd be stuck driving 25k cars the whole time!

Calling that an investment is not appropriate, in my view. Call it an emotional purchase, and the fact someone is willing to burn 30k cash like that is more akin to speculating on Facebook or Manchester United than "investing".
Not saying that buying a 991 is wrong, mind. If I had the financial "gravitas" I'd do it.
