Just been informed that wef 1st of oct the 111 point check and OPC warranty changes

YOU HAVE TO OWN THE CAR FOR 90 Days BEFORE YOU CAN BUY THE WARRANTY

at the moment anyone can have a car inspected 111 point check pass the check buy the warranty £895

From 1st of october you have to of owned the car for 90 days, take the car plus V5 have the 111 point check and the warranty will be approx £1300/ 1400 annually

To renenw, every year y0u need an 111 point check done

A nice way for Porsche to reward their owners for the congestion charge support??

another little known fact,
the new generation 997 has no intermediate shaft, and a new 4 peice crankcase, a strange how they haven't publicised the fact, could be that if they advertised the fact, they would have to admit there's been a design fault in the previous engine?

Time perhaps for Porsche Owners club to appeal to Porsche's better nature?

roflrofl

You are joking, right?

Porsche owners club are more likely to do a two page spread in the magazine explaining why these changes will benefit owners and how generous it is of Porsche to have put it in place.

If this is true, values of 996's (Eligible for a warranty) will plummet further!

Whats the matter Porsche, all those new engines hurting you?

Thanks for that Stirlings.

If true, this is consistent with my hints made some time ago. If the reliability rate were so good, why will these changes be implemented?

To the indies offering some sort of warranty/maintenance plan (you know who you are), this can only be good for your businesses! thumbup

Now, let's hear from the usual warranty suspects.... biggrin

Not good, I was only yesterday praising the Porsche Warranty over BMW.

Meanwhile I think BMW have revised theirs again to try and appease customers a little.

The bit that pissed me off is the 111 point check every year.

More service work for Porsche and less claims that they have to cover I guess, I wonder if I can purchase another year before Oct even though mine is not due for renewal until early 2009?

Is this gospel?

Well, it was included in the announcement of the engine specs for the facelift cars and discussed in the engine reliability sticky at the top of the forum ... wonder who pointed it out ... scratchchin ...

Hmmm, if this does happen I may well ditch the warranty and get the cars servicing done at an Independent. I'm sure my local OPC will be delighted with this new arrangement.

Whilst I'm at it, if I don't need the potential goodwill of my local OPC, I may as well source my next Porsche from where ever it's cheapest rather than supporting the local OPC and Porsche GB.

As a Porsche dealer i've just been told by local OPC that this is the way it is from october,

(As it is i'm not allowed to include the cost of warranty with my cars,
the new owner pays for the warranty and asks me to reduce my price to cover the warranty)

I smell bullsh1 t.

1. 111 point inspection - if anything fails like RMS, it will get fixed by the warranty. So why the retest when any problems will be fixed before renweal. Duh.

2. Sources?

As I said, I smell something, and ain't his aftershave.

Quite! thumbup

Baz and co (i.e. the other indies), I tell you, never have I seen a market (and the 800-pound gorilla) move things so quickly towards some of your strengths. But tread carefully. You don't need me to explain why.

Because the warranty business isnt profitable to them, they cant pull the plug on it, so lets make it awkward.

Looks remarkably similar to what BMW did to M owners 18 months or so ago. Not good.

If this is true I am out. For good.

Sounds to me like some dumb c''t at an OPC who doesn't know what the f'ck has talking about.

Seen this one coming... Porsche have been p*ssed off by Independents putting OPC warranties via back door, the 'everything in the customers name' wasnt working so they've had to find another route to look after the main dealers interests.

When i worked for an indy with OPC links we had to make sure EVERTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was in the buyers name (with no connection to us as a 3rd party) if we put an OPC warranty on a car.

Buying privately you could get the seller to put a policy on and subseqently transfer it?

yeah, but why not just look around for a Hartech type warranty... could be more of these popping up if Porsche really are making life difficult...
