An 8 year old boy might stare at someone's ice cream does that make ice creams supercars?

Well, 8 year old boys stare at me, but that's because they know that I'm the nearest thing they'll ever see to a real life superhero.

If you pull into a petrol station and middle aged men stare at it, it's a Sports car.

If 8 year old boys stare at it, it's a Supercar.
That'll make my 911 Turbo a supercar. Cheers. wink
Who the hell wants 8 year old boys staring at them ?

Some remarkable thinking on PH

Erm.....I think the idea is that the 8 year old is looking at the car, not the owner.

Given that there's no formal definition of a supercar, and even the OED says "a high-performance sports car", why the fk are people arguing about it?

Nothing better to do on a Sunday.

Good point, well made.

To the OP; Buy what you like and enjoy it. Ignore the argumentrons here. A 911 or an R8 would both be a good choice.

He's probably got fed up with all the arguing as to what constitutes a supercar and gone and bought a Dacia Sandero.

Nobody is looking at the person behind the wheel, so no they don't.

When I was looking at an R8 driving through a car park, I looked at the car then looked at the driver and gave him a thumbs up.

And as I'm a middle aged man, I guess that conclusively means that the R8 is a sports car.

Ok, maybe a few car nerds look at the driver, but nobody else is interested, especially kids.

An interesting perspective from somebody who has done 2 million miles on supercars....(albeit a few miles on a lot of cars....)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnBI0HYu-yc

Summary...get a recent supercar and do a lot of maintenance

Accepting that (some) supercars are, and the market demands that they be, much more reliable than their forebares, I'm not sure he was THAT reassuring. McLaren still have a very patchy reputation and older Ferraris too, even Porsche have lost their "bullet-proof" reputation of the past.(Or maybe they were only regarded as bullet proof relative to the opposition). Don't really want to bring up the R8 (whether you regard it as a supercar or not) - but it's one of a very few cars that I would consider outside the warranty period without some extended cover.

You think that people are looking at you when you are in your car? You think they care who is behind the wheel?

I always look at the driver if I can, following a comment from someone years ago that "you never see a good looking man driving an Aston Martin. They look like golfing pensioners"
