Interesting....
Some things I like and some I do not. The front splitter is... awkward. Reminds me of a GT-R at the front end for some reason I can't put my finger on. I can see what they were going for in the rear midsection, the lines draw in towards a little bit of a waist before the wheel arches flair out - cues from the 1-77, can see some continuation there.
Overall a little too cluttered I think. But for those who are disappointed, remember there's a pretty well trodden path with most manufacturers of releasing concept cars or pre-release models that are more extreme in their styling and then the final product turns out to be a lot more subdued.

With regard to looks... Does the 712b look very different to the 599 or the Aventador so different to the Murcielago? 328/348/355/360/430/458 all merge into one another. And I won't even mention the 911 Evolution is good. Not everyone has a Miura to Contach moment every generation The design language of all modern Astons is from the DB7. Pretty good basis and a lot of life in it yet. The likes of Jaguar are only just catching up and are usually referred to as being derivative of Astons Agree completely. Put the DBS and 'vanquish' side by side and the differences inside, outside and under the bonnet are really quite different. This certainly can't be said about the 911!

Well it think it was necessary a new name but I would not have choosen Vanquish. Certainly if the choice was between Bulldog and Vanquish, Vanquish was the best choice

There is a difference.

Yes, that means there will be the replacement of the DB9, and then the DBS
The Vanquish still remains the flag-ship of Aston...

I only went to Gaydon last Thursday and they were adamant that the name hadn't been chosen and there were a number of names under consideration. They did say we would know before the end of June though. The car looks like its on its way to a display/photoshoot? but I am very surprised they have let the name slip. The guys that transport these cars know how important it is to maintain secrecy so to allow someone 30 odd seconds to take the images of the car without stopping them just seems to me to be a bit .... convenient. Is it AM sanctioned to see the reaction to the name?? Perhaps we will soon see another with a different name on it Oh - and yes I do read a lot of spy thrillers

Who cares what it's called? The important thing is that it doesn't look as crass as the AM310.

The point is it won't do the numbers to make AM profitable . lamborghini are planning a 4x4 , Porsche depend on theirs for their success and everybody is following Audi into the proliferation of niche products ( who lest we forget own the two afore mentioned brands ) - where are Aston going - updating existing product whatever you call it is not going to get us there - do you know what Aston volumes are compared to Porsche or even Lamborghini ? I shudder to think !!

Why do people object so vehemently to Aston using the name Vanquish for what will be the top of the range car?

I still think the rear would look better with clear taillights and a light bar connecting the two taillights together a la One-76.

RichB said: Why do people object so vehemently to Aston using the name Vanquish for what will be the top of the range car? Probably because the Vanquish was so iconic for Aston. Imagine Ferrari calling their next supercar the F40, wouldn't go down well. Maybe if they spent less on crap marketing videos and more on innovation they might have come up with something new.

That's true and I guess people will realize more and more how iconic the Vanquish was in 2001 when it was launched. For sure, this new Vanquish will make the true Vanquish appreciated even more !
