V8 Vantage Service Bulletin 240 for belt squeak
Discussion
I replaced the thermostat on the car over the weekend which was an easy job to do if you're handy with a spanner.
Unfortunately the tensioner pully that is known for squealing is located directly underneath the thermostat housing, so I think where some of the coolant has leaked out of the housing it has set the squealing off
Seems to be a common problem and have ordered the updated belt and pulley from the dealer, but noticed there is a service bulletin for this.
If anyone is able to provide a copy of the bulletin, that would be useful, please!
The bulletin is listed as:
FEAD Belt Squeak - Version 4
Reference: SB-03-0240V5
Thanks

If it's a service bulletin shouldn't a dealer do it for free?
They did for me, but I am still under (extended) warranty, not sure if that makes a difference.
I made the executive decision not to renew the extended warranty this year. Within a couple of weeks I have then had to fix the thermostat and now this belt and pulley. Time will tell if I am quids in at the end of the year! They did for me, but I am still under (extended) warranty, not sure if that makes a difference.
if your car is under warranty it is indeed a service item
im over 3 years since mine ran out, and +30K miles since then ..thankfully only the odd non consumable service item so quids in versus the £1500 extended warranty cost
of course running one of these cars from 60, 80 or 100K miles then its likely to get more expensive, but then so is the extended warranty/insurance...

This is interesting, I have a 'squeak' when I start the car whch sounds like it could be a belt. It does seem to disappear when the engine warms up. Do you think this may be related to the Service Bulletin mentioned here? If so I will get it in to the dealer as my warranty runs out in March.
Thanks
Thanks

thats the early symptoms...sometimes can go with some belt lube spray...keep it at bay for a while but eventually it will get worse...its just whenThanks
get it in before March - not worth the hassle really for £65 of parts

Hi, I now have the parts to replace the old feed belt idler pulleys and belt, just a quick question, does any of you guys know the correct torque figure for these pulley fixings, found places that talk about the replace meant but no one gives the torque figures. Thanks in advance for your help...Al
