That Bangle bloke has really got some sort of a good taste problem , i can not belive some of the motors he is designing for BMW , but what makes it worse is at some stage these must come before the board to get signed off , are they all blind or something

Bloody Hell! That looks like at right dogs dinner at the front. I didn't like the old one's looks much, but that looks like a particularly ugly shark's face.

like it apart from the awful piggy snout - love the rear. interior is a bit z8 ( better photos on the bmw website link ). front end is a big turn off though - even clear indicators would help it. will be interesting to see it in the flesh

I referr to my earlier comment about FBS being nearer the mark than we'd have thought...

...Shame though, that is a jolly ugly car - what happens round the back I wonder....

Definitely an improvement on the Z3 in the looks department...there's a lot of better looking roadsters on the market, though.

Still it will be reliable. Wonder if there'll be a Z4M? Might be fun.

Has someone let FBS do the styling for BMW or what? The styling seems to make the front look wider than the rear which is just SO SO wrong!

Prepare to see this car being driven by a hairdresser in your area soon!

Seems BMW are embarking on an "ugly phase"...

I read somewhere else (one of the car comics) that the side is supposed to conjure up imagery of a flame. *cough* arse *cough*

Why are we discussing this? Its not for serious sports car people its for fashion victims.

There should be a law to stop people designing ugly cars like this, or how about banning them from desiging another car for a year if they screw up the last one.

I always thought the old one was the same

I'd keep the wheels and burn the rest (is it me, or does it look like a beached whale from the front)?

god, it cracks me up the way that the people who are most eager to scream ugly are the most vigorous forum visitors. Take your heads out of your asses and look again. This car has real presence, bulging fenders, a broad grille, intricate details like the turning-signal repeaters/logo in the fenders (although that diagonal line it sits on may be the most uncomfortable line on the car), this car, if nothing else, completely ditches the somewhat feminine details of the old z3. At most, it shows that when Bangle sets out to be different, it doesn't always have to be as ungainly as the trunkline on the 7-series. Oh, and while I'm at it, yes, I do think the trunkline on the 7 series is too high, and the gaping panel gap from the c-pillar to the lid itself accentuates the visual heft. Otherwise, its a pretty imposing sedan, if much less graceful than an s-class

I actually quite like the side profile, but I'm not so sure about the front - looks a little too bulbous for my tastes.

Still, it may well look better in the flesh, and all BM's seem to grow on me after a while.

Well it's good to see something daring from a mainstream manufacturer I guess, but it's not a natural beauty, it's a piece of 'modern' art which will excite some and offend others.

A bit like an Ann Summers more real than real 'love aid' then?

It is a shame that manufacturers feel the need to give each of their models the corporate grill face. A Seven Series grill on a roadster - no thanks BMW.
