Anyone know anything about this car specifically? I'm just off back up thread to do my general research...Since this thread started I have never seen a brown one. 550 or 545. So I'd say its not known to someone here but I could be wrong obviously.

It was in good nick, well looked after. A few scars, but it's 19 years old. The suspension compressor was a little noisy, but that might be normal? It drove well and no knocks/bumps. Pulled well too. You'll see the headlight has gone, not the end of the world. It also had a surface scratch down most of the near side. Probably improvable with a machine polish. The seller knew his stuff and had owned several ///M cars, he made all the right noises about letting it warm up, keeping ontop of services etc. It was for my brother, and it came down to ... being brown. Why did we even view it!?
Also reduced to £3850 now. Tempted myself...

I'd be all over that like a rash but the miles do put me off, after all the niggles I was getting at even ~80k.
I've had a few niggles but I think more age related than miles. My thesis when buying mine was the big v8 will be more reliable than a complicated diesel. And it has been. Although I now think these engines aren't that simple they are based on well proven tech. The n52 3 litre is well loved. I think the v8 is based on all the same tech. But that's based on gut feel than anything scientific. In general I don't see how road use can really stress a big v8. So I'll continue pressing on with mine for now. I'm still waiting for an update on its minor heart surgery. Fingers crossed the big bruiser is back with me and in fine fettle, soon.Could I have the thoughts of this group on a sensible asking price for my E61 550i.
It's a 2005/6 550i SE Touring in Grey. It has the 6-speed SSG/SMG gearbox and lots of options from factory (active steering, active cruise, dynamic drive, HUD, comfort seats with active side rests, adaptive headlights, automatic tailgate lift etc)
I have had it since 2019 and have had a lot of maintenance work done. All the engine oil seals were done (including the difficult alternator bracket), the tailgate wiring has all been replaced, suspension arms, brakes etc. etc.)
Wheels are a brand new set (last 6m) of the original Style 123s.
Has a neatly integrated 12.3" Android Head Unit with reversing camera, internet connectivity etc. Original factory iDrive still available if preferred.
It's has done 123k miles and the bodywork is good for a 19y old car.
The car is in the best shape since I've owned it and I've got my eye on a 650i Gran Coupe so now might be the time to sell.
My gut says somewhere between £3500-4500. Tell me if you think I'm wrong.

Difficult question for Me as an owner. I think these should be worth more but I guess the reality is they are not. The 545 above eventually sold - I believe. And the asking was reduced to 3850. So I get the feeling people either want one of these or they do not. I dont think you are selling to the person who does not know they exist. You are looking for someone in the know. If thats true then maybe the market is quite small.

As a previous owner of an e61 550i SE and early contributor to this thread, I was back in the market a few weeks ago. Specifically I wanted a band k tax 550i with comfort seats! If it is in reasonable nick I would have probably pushed to 6k for your car with the caveat that I haven’t drive an smg so would have had to get comfortable with that first. Sadly it’s too late and whilst I could extricate myself from the Audi A6 Avant I ended up with a week ago, I am going to stick with it for a while! Buyers like me however may crop up only once in a while so it depends on whether or not you can play the long game. I would have thought 6k is not unreasonable though. For an e61 550i with comfort seats even 6k seems cheap to me, they are absolutely superb. It's a 2005/6 550i SE Touring in Grey. I agree although I've never sat in the comfort seats. I see the 550i above for 4 grand sold very fast but the 545i hung around for a while. I saw a 550i manual purchased recently but that's not in this thread, I think that was 8 grand. I know some people lust after manual but it feels like the premium shouldn't add 100% over an auto. Although SMG isn't really a traditional auto, I thought that's an automated manual. An m5 v10 estate is probably 20 grand. Mercedes e500 estates are 5 or 6k.News on my car. Its been 6 weeks so I called to check on progress. I was told my car is now running without it's misfire. So clearly the valvtronic control module was the culprit. Just the relay for the wipers still to do and that I should expect a call soon telling me it is ready to collect. I'll be sure to find out where these both live because I don't want more water ingress problems.
