Took the M635 out for a run - E24’s get lots of attention now especially when they find out it’s the full fat ///M with the fabulous M88 engine.

Lovely. Always wanted one when I had my E28 5 series. A 635csi would have been perfect - if only I could have afforded one.

Just stumbled into here and saw this and it reminded me of my old 635 that had rotten wings and rather than fix them i traded it in for a Xjs...
Of course i should of got the 6 sorted but it was fifteen years ago and i was stupid.....

Yours looks lovely....
15 years ago you could get hold of wings for about £550 - I believe they've been unavailable for years now so you have to patch whatever amount of metal you have left. Saying that, 15 years ago your average 635CSi wasn't worth much more than £5k-£6k with minty low milers at £10k. Now you have basket cases worth £5k for the spares alone and runners headed toward £10k - good cars are £15k-£20k with minty examples a little more.

M635 basket cases are £15k-£25k with all the very good cars at £50k plus.

I used to leave mine out in all weathers...

...but now it hides away with a few others...

Bought one, tomorrow going to drain the fuel and clean out the tank, hopefully get it running on fresh fuel.

Anyone got a link to an E30 vin decode?

The car is a 323i, Baur cabriolet, with a manual gearbox. nice thing, needs some cosmetic body and paint,

Most of the online ones don't work anymore - quite honestly the easiest way to do it is to pop into a BMW dealer and ask at the Parts Desk. Give some guff about needing to know what the initial spec was so you can use RealOEM to check some part numbers on the car and ask them nicely to print off the original spec from their system.

Plus - get some pics up! Everyone loves an E30.

Gave the engine bay a bit of a clean whilst it was hooked up to the conditioner.

Will get some pics today, it has never had rust issues on mot history, last tested 2018, but has had some rust cut out and new metal let in, rear arches, tiny bit on a sill, bottom of both front wings, just not finished, as the owner of 23 years ran out of time sadly. all in primer where repaired.

Solid underneath, quite a lot of it cleaned and painted with what looks like Hanmmerite, all new discs and pads, calipers overhauled and painted, I doubt it has, but the engine is so clean, my mate is convinced it has been out for a rebuild. Lots of new suspension parts, or cleaned and painted ones, does not appear to be lowered or altered. Bigger alloys though.

Very low owners for a cabriolet, total of 4, very low recorded miles @ 86k.

It was in a tight, under building lock up garage, with stick brakes,no chance of getting the truck anywhere near it, so battery on, it started and drove itself out, though I suspect that might cause issues lol. The brakes are not sticky any more,it rolled off the truck and pushed easily into the shed.

Once it has clean fuel, it will as usual be taken for mot, fail or pass, for 40 quid, it is the best, least time consuming way to find issues and get it on a lift for a personal inspection of the underside.

Interior is very nice.

No cracks in the dash, seats showing a little age but not damaged.

I have the original steering wheel but the one fitted does not look out of place.

There was a stainless exhaust boxed in the boot, manifolds too, not checked if it is all there, looks like the back box has been fitted and is stamped Scorpion.

Even the aftermarket alarm works on the fob.

Weather is atrocious here today; on/off heavy rain but with some sun in between; not a great day for washing the car but had to clean the interior as it was coated with compost dust; everywhere! Even the headlining got a good patina laugh

All hoovered and wiped down with watered down citrus pre-cleaner; the leathers been given a good wipe down with Dr Leather wipes (these are superb if you've not tried them) and then the alcantara has been brushed clean

Looking good Dan.

Yesterday was lovely in Ullswater, but the forecast was for bad weather arriving in the evening.

We actually had a nice day down here, so it was a day of cleaning stuff; both bikes were dealt with after a mucky ride around Askham Fell and Ullswater yesterday. Then it was time to tackle the cars, the 330i was filthy again after 400-odd miles of wet driving to the Lakes and back.

Annoyingly the centre console trim that I bought to replace the one I damaged the other day is the wrong colour; it’s dark wood like I used to have in my 335i. I’m still looking for a sensibly priced replacement.

My 335i also got a quick going over

Fingers crossed for some decent weather over Easter so I can get a be of them detailed.
