One thing, when bought new a lot of these cars came with a service pack, which was good value.
Given the high spec it’s possible the first owner also paid for that.
Might be worth checking with BMW if it ever had one since that would make it even more strange that it was serviced outside the main dealer network.
It would make no sense whatsoever for the car to have had the service pack and then had servicing done outside the dealer network - given what's happened I think it's highly unlikely there's a service pack's in place.

But if the OP's serious about the car I think the issue of the service history does need to be resolved (probably be a pre-requisite if he wants to put a BMW extended warranty on it).

If you click on the service entry in the idrive it will tell you what was done.

You can also email bmw with the reg and they will tell you the service centres it has visited but not what was done.

If they say they have no record of it then the services have not been recorded on the bmw servers

I'm not seeing it on Autotrader so maybe it's finally gone?

So it is! I did a new search - and it didn't appear - and I couldn't see it on the Evans Halshaw website either; just did a fresh search on Autotrader and again it doesn't seem to be showing?

But you're right, I'd expect the advert linked in the OP to be dead if the car had been sold so all a bit confusing!

Yes, strange one. Not appearing in search on Autotrader and gone from the EH website, but still visible via my original link and the ad bookmarked on the Autotrader app. Not losing sleep over this one as there were too many unknowns for my liking, but I was considering a really cheeky offer. It needs an MOT as well as tax, so it'll be interesting to see if they start showing up as done in the next few days.

ETA: Just checked and the MOT was 20 days overdue on the day I looked at it so it's a good job I didn't test drive it as I'd have been on the hook if we'd been pulled!

I notice it's got a fresh MOT on it today, so either it's been bought or they've paused the ad while they got the MOT done. It's still in my Saved adverts on the app, so maybe it's just been paused.

Might have a new MOT but its still not taxed.

And whilst the link on P1 is still live, it does not appear on the web search !

I imagine someone might have secured it last weekend and is planning on taking it this coming weekend, in which case it'll probably be taxed on Saturday. It'd make sense. Saw it last weekend, did a deal, garage took it for an MOT this week and by this coming weekend all the money and admin will be sorted. Slightly odd that the ad is still accessible via the original link though.

It was a very nice, rare car - someone was bound to take it at the right price which reflected it’s patchy history and good on them.

+1

There were certainly some questions to be answered on its history but at the right price and with a decent warranty that car could have been a very good buy IMO. If a coupe had fitted my requirements I'd have gone to have a look at it but, as you say, good on whoever's bought it!

Taxed over the weekend, so someone's definitely got it now. Shame it's not a PHer - I'd be interested to know how they go on with it. I could have lived with the service history but it was the time it had sat waiting to sell - twice - and the possibility that the most recent service might have been too overdue for a BMW warranty to be applied that killed it for me.
