F15 "Headlight adaption" - does it actually work?

So I took my UK right hand drive F15 on a Christmas trip across continental Europe. That's when I enabled that "Headlight adaption" setting to not dazzle when driving on the right side of the road. But when I looked at the beams, it seemed that all that it did was lowered both beams and the left one was still reaching further than the right one, when it should be the other way around, right? Or did I misunderstand how it works? How does it actually work?

Depends what lights you have - ours has Adaptive Leds and I can clearly see the difference, The high beam assistant also doesn't blind oncoming drivers who are now to my left, but instead lights up signs on the right. So yes, LEDs definitely work well with the adaptation...Cheburator mk2 said:

Is yours F15? Because F15 only has daylight LEDs, the headlights are still good old xenons. So I have the "522 Xenon Light" option, but no adaptive lights. Still, I do have the "Headlight adaption" setting in my iDrive, but all it does as I've already said before is lowers both beams, at least that's what it looks like visually.

It very much has the full on adaptive LEDs headlights and LED spot lights which are only used to illuminate objects identified by the night vision/collision warning system. It has about £30k worth of options in it and a stonking big 4.4 bi-turbo V8

I see. So apparently F15 does have LED headlight option which is I assume an upgrade from "just" xenons. I wonder if anyone over here tried the setting with just plain xenons.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
