Wouldn't a change to the settings made using third party methods invalidate the warranty?Warranty in theory shouldn't affect anything, but if the car is flashed by a dealer it will wipe the settings. End of the day its changing setting parameters that are set like that for cars sold in different regions. Its not some dark arts custom software being loaded.
If you brick the one of the modules while using these apps then yes it will void the warranty. But a dealer isnt going to care that you have changed the car to default to sport individual on startup if your turbo fails.

So is it now a legal requirement to have it switched on, even though I had a major software upgrade on my F40 from BMW so that I can switch it off permanently. ( I still get the steering wheel vibration but not the yanking out of your hands when I cross lanes )
I'm not trying to start a debate on the subject, just asking .

Yes it is legal requirement for production vehicles. UNECE regulation 157.

Mandatory lane keep assist and speed limit warnings active at every start - with a minimum of 2 button presses to disable.
I feel partially thankful that my ‘21 m340 is old enough that the settings stay off - but unfortunately still gets neutered exhaust sound.

Not the EU. It is the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), one of five regional commissions under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
