I loved Performance bikes magazine back in the day.
I used to always have the latest copy in my school bag, then work bag.... would read it cover to cover.

Mark Forsyth,John Robinson, key raymond, fatty franklin...who else??? I've gone blank!
Ronnie! Gus Scott....
......of course, God rest their souls frown
I was thinking pre Ronnie and Gus era though...there was someone else who's name escapes me.

Might have to dig my box of old PB out when I get home.
Matt Oxley before he got sacked for wrecking an RC30.

Rupert Paul, now at 'Bike' magazine.

Peter Comely (sp?) the art editor who went on to a car magazine.

One of the office girls, Sarah?? who they had a running joke about, in every 'next month' there was a bit about her getting her knee down culminating in the line, 'Sarah gets three knees down at once but refuses to discuss it'
Was superb - along with Fast bikes crew and their dodgy coloured fonts and articles ending mid sentence.

Ronnie was a proper nutter.

I remember the CBR with the taped up lights winning that race and a lot of their sleepers and big bored bikes were awesome too. The CBR600 that ran 700cc and made more power than a blade. The bored/stroked 750s that were all tested against the blade and beat it etc.

I had every issue from 92-2002 but I think I binned them all when my parents moved house, just keeping a few key interesting issues. Now have every copy from 2008 to date. PB has reliably been the best bike mag for 20 years I reckon.

Pure boys stuff FB was. I used to buy the DVD's at the bike show. I remember one DVD was basically a bird in a short skirt driving a Ferrari with the camera facing up from the pedals. Stupid but great. The guy talking over calmly was class as well.

Most are up on Youtube now I think. Proper antisocial riding at it's best/worst before French police gave a toss about speeding.

Colin Schiller was the editor of FB and commentator on the videos with the classic "picture skew"comment on one as he mis-read his notes. I liked FB as a mag but always thought they were bullshiltting a bit until they released Pulp Friction vid - most good.

Schiller sold FB to a group thing years ago and was never the same again. Last I heard a million years ago he was running a bike shop in Chelsea, he's probably gone bankrupt ten times since then.

As a mag PB's always better I thought. They did the first video called Video Nasty which I'm on, cartwheeling an NC30 down the Gooseneck at Cadwell. That vid however was made to look v.tame by the all the FB videos.

Small world eh - I remember the issue with the NC30 at one of their trackdays cartwheeling with a series of photos, as I remember BN's FZR highside save pics. Will have to see what issues I have left and head into the attic.

The Fast bike tests were not really road tests - just destruction testing and rating bikes on how well they stunted and how fast they went. Shakey's laugh from the on-board footage always cracked me up too. Suzy Perry started there too IIRC doing the interviews and flirting with Shakey and Rob Frost.

As with Y2, my late 90s hooliganism was basically a combination of FB worship and years of getting away from the police in the New Forest on rideouts when the blues came on. Unfortunately it all ended in '99 with a ban and failure to stop when they did catch up on one occasion!

I'm surprised any of them survived TBH.

They introduced me to the sport of flicking fellow riders kill switches off on ride outs - something I've not done for probably 10 years now as you grow up hehe

How to pull wheelies and influence people probably started my addiction to this form of pissing about!

Wasn't me. Somebody looped their CBR400 NC29 Tri-Arm over the mountain on the same day and that was the series of still photos in the mag. Had smoke coming off the arse of his leathers and horrified expression on his face from memory - v.good. Stills photographers seem to gather at the mountain for some reason (spot the annoyance from someone that can't wheelie!).

I was only captured on the video. I've got it on VHS video tape and found someone to transfer it to disc errr 18 months ago. Fantastic and all that, downloaded it onto my computer and apparently I need something that will run a BUP file??

I've yet to be bothered to work out how to do this. If you can help I'll stick it up on da YouTube for you to laugh at - bike gets proper shagged, they slo mo it and everything. Quite funny when showed at the NEC bike show on a 30 foot wide screen.
