Rollocks. Lorenzo's results are better than Rossi's right now. I've seen nothing to say Lorenzo's better
You mean other than his spectacular speed and consistency? The reality is that, in my opinion, you are both wrong. It is impossible to say if Lorenzo right now is better than Rossi as their situations are so far removed from each other (if Rossi was on a Honda instead of a Ducati you could probably make a judgement). To try and say that one is better than the other just makes you come across as biased.

Mad, ummm, er no.
Rossi has no confidence in the front end of ythat Ducati. He has crashed more in 2yrs than in his previous 10 seasons.
Racing bikes is about confidence and he hasn't got it in that bike, therefore he will have questioned himself.
The bike will get won't fit him like an old slipper, it's'2yrs sincxe he rode an 800cc Yamaha he helped develop. It's'now a 1000cc, has different electronis and if you think he'll be immediately confident in it i think you're wrong. It'll take time hence my comment about pre-season testing. He needs the time to get it set up and to his liking so it gives him the confidence he needs.
I hope its a quick process, but bike racing is all about confidence and be will have lost some in the last 2yrs, no doubt.
I agree, VR will have lost some confidence, but being back on a Yam must be a great weight off his shoulders. He will have seen that it actually goes round corners and has a front end that you can trust.Rossi has no confidence in the front end of ythat Ducati. I hope it all works for Rossi, alas do not believe it will.
It's a young mans game & he's getting too old. May get a few podiums but certainly no title. Not that theres anything wrong with that. No one wins forever & if he lives riding bikes and can still compete at the top level then why shouldn't he.

Im that happy that Rossi is joining Yamaha again I coloured my Rossi tattoo in with highlighter pens in celebration of this.
It has nothing to do with being bored at work last week!
perhaps I should do that with my Spice Girls one that I have across my ar se cheeks since they re-formed to appear at the Lympics last night.
I just need a brown pen for one of 'em.
And somebody to help as I can't reach.
Offers?

So what do we think the actual reason was for him leaving?
Obviously the bike sucks balls but do you think Audi basically told him they weren't going to change the engine, they weren't going to spend more money, or do you think that they promised him the moon on a stick but he's just had enough & didn't want to waste another year to see if they could do what they promised?

I reckon it's simply a case of not having the time to wait. He's probably got two more seasons in him, it will probably take Ducati at least 2013 to get the bike sorted (assumming they can) with an undoubtedly massive pile of Audi cash, which will only leave one season for him to win again.
Not long enough. If he was going to 'do the triple' he needed to swap for the 2008 season - nothing to do with relative bike competitiveness, just career time.

Id still have money on Rossi slapping Lorenzo around next season. It'll take him 10 laps to regain his trust and confidence on the bike. I'm not saying for one minute that Lorenzo isn't silly good, he really is, but Rossi just has that extra talent. Does anyone think that Lorenzo will achieve the same level of success as the GOAT?
Think I'll YouTube Catalunya again...
There's no question of Stoner's talent but, wasn't his title on the Ducati before it had a full monocoque chassis, allegedly a big contributor to its issues. And one of Stoner's biggest complaints was not just a lack of development, but management not listening to the direction he thought the bike should go in. Sound familiar?
I'm not saying Vale will go and run away with it next year on a Yamaha, but no matter how much money Audi throw at Ducati, taking 1 win next year is a big ask, a few wins the year after is possible, and the year after? Age will become an even bigger factor, Rossi hasn't been getting any younger in Yamahas absence.
There may be a chance of wins with Ducati next year but we all know that the Yamaha WILL be capable of winning, and if Rossi can't win then, then that might be easier to process for the GOAT than wasting away on a machine engineered more out of nostalgia than sense. God love the Italians and where would MotoGP be without them?
We might have seen Rossi's last title but we haven't seen the last of him terrorising the young'uns, and compared to the last two WSB champions, Vale will be the youngster.
Who'd bet against it?
