Too many shysters out there who'll charge top whack for a bodge job

Adrian Venn is NOT one of them.

Turned my wiper motor round same day - I'd asked him for a new one @ £160 +

He refurbed mine to as good as new (his words) for £50 all in inc new park switch.

A main dealer charged me for parts and labour to replace the park switch within the last 2 months. Clearly they didn't actually do the work. Again.

Nice to find an honest man - his details are http://www.exactly-tvr.demon.co.uk/

How do you remove it ..? mine works perfect when the blades are off the screen and when the screen is very wet but struggles to get back to the correct position and stops at the same place ,half way across the screen, the only way to get it to the correct position is to lift ,nudge or give it a spray .The park switch must work because it goes to the correct place if i keep the screen wet..

It must be weak !is it the motor.? Im surprised it`s not off another car looks very similar to the Spitfire motor..

mine is the MK1 heard some have different motors..

You can release it by removing the clamp that holds it to the inner wing, removing the top plate and disconnecting the mechanism.

First I'd try a good clean-up and some new grease though. wink

Adrian does a lot of work on our cars and knows his onions and charges fairly. He's owned a lot (in the region of 50) over the years so has driven and worked on virtually everything. Gets my vote.

Hi guys, sorry for re-opening a thread but i'm struggling getting my motor back in ! I've got parts cover with the AA which i've just found out covers my wiper motor as well but i need to get it back in before i can call them out.

Someone else took it off for me but i've got no idea how to get the motor and the cable connected back up ! Does the top plate on the motor need taking off to get everything back in place ?

Any help would be really appreciated as it looks like it's going to start raining again and no wipers = no fun.

Look forward to your replies.

The info you seek can all be seen in Ralphy's pics above, it's straight forward really once the cover is removed. Another vote for Adrian Venn & he's spares thumbup

Ahhhhh, i've just re-opened the thread and the top pic has loaded as it hadn't before. That does make more sense now. Will have a go this weekend i think. May well be asking some questions if i get stuck though !

AJ

PS. Happy to use Adrian but i think i got quoted £180 to recondition mine ?!?! Does that sound correct when the OP got there's done for £50 ?

I rebuilt a spare with new contacts/brush pack, park switch and had it all re-plated in Zinc for around £70 IIRC DIY. As Adrian Venn as to do all the work and you get to keep your fingers clean I think what he charges is fair especially as he as to allow for the possibility of damaged drive wheels etc (I did not) thumbup

Cool, i wasn't knocking his prices because he's cheaper than anyone else around that's doing the same thing, and from what i've heard has the best reputation. Just seemed strange that someone had had it refurbed for £50 last year and now the price was over tripple. Will see if the AA man thinks he can fix it and then inevitably get in touch with Adrian when he can't, but all paid for by the AA.

Thanks for the help Simon. May still need assistance in putting the bloody thing back in though !

AFAIK Adrian is the only one the supplier of the modded bits will deal with so all delaers will use him so you may as well avoid the double profits and go direct.
