Daz, I will leave my set at Jodie's tomorrow if you want to see what they are like. Of the £45 I paid, £30 was the postage fom the USA.

Yes, we'll that's what is written on the package - postage $44.95. It's not what it says on the advert. I am not gong to fit mine just yet, as I am debating the idea of electromagnets from China.....Chimpjunkie had them fitted, and while his bonnet didn't pop, his engine did! However, they are a nice idea, just wire them through the ignition and listen for the clunk each time you start up. Carl Baker saw no problem when I discussed it with him.
For later cars like mine, with no visible door buttons or boot hinges, it is the more elegant solution.
So if you guys want to see what they look like before you order, I will happily post one to you. Just PM me your address.

Yes, I realise I will end up about two miles from Willow. Handy! I will drop one pin off at my daughter's tomorrow, keeping the other one so that others can have a look while I make up my mind. I will probably go magnets. Just need to get some Play Doh off my grandson first..... idea

My Gucci bonnet pins arrived from the USA today..

they look the dogs dangles!biggrin

anyone else in the midlands fitting theirs in the near future???

would fit them tonight but ive got a list to trudge through first so it cant jump the queue

smash

just looked at the receipt and the postage to me was $5.95! $44 for the pins so total was $49.95!

2 questions to those who have fitted them:

what are the distances from the top and side of the bonnet you have to do your pilot hole?

i take it the normal bonnet latch after fitting these pins is obsolete?

You need to keep the latch - the bonnet sensor for the alarm system is in there

ok.. so you pop the pins before you hit the bonnet latch handle?

Well, I would. As I understood it, when you shut the bonnet, you lay it down in position as before, but making sure it is lined up with all three things, and then push the normal catch shut, and then the pins locate into their holders and you shut them. To release, you press the buttons in the middle of the pins, and pull the bonnet release. But that's only how I have understood it.

I am still debating fitting mine. On a pre98 Chim with exposed metalwork, they will look totally in keeping with the rest of the car. On a later one like mine, with no exposed metalwork, they won't look as elegant, so i am investigating fitting electro-magnets in the same place. I have also replaced the splitter/gurney underneath the nose (though I might well fit it Cerbera style, so that it rips off less easily), and I am getting the rake of the car sorted out. My previous problem with the bonnet popping open wasn't helped IMHO by the fact I was running the car on 17 inch wheels all around, with 205/40 tyres on all four too, so the car wasn't in its usual nose down stance. I cannot help but think that that added to the volume of air getting up and under the bonnet.
