No, I haven't tried them beyond checking they worked, and can't recall if they warm only your buns or not. They have three settings - off, low and high.
I don't pick the car until 22nd Dec when I'm next over. In the meantime it's having some stuff done - new windscreen, new steering wheel, wiring loom checked and some paintwork rectification.

Mine needs doing due to 16 years of small stonechips, but i'm too much of a wuss to trust autoglass etc.
Dave!
No, I'm afraid not. T'is all being done by the dealer - there's a properly big chip in mine. I don't suppose there's anything special about the windscreen compared to a normal W124??
I had to have the windscreen replaced on my 156 GTA earlier this year after it shattered, which was a bit fraught as it's got built-in rain-sensors and apparently therefore requires a different screen to normal 156s. It transpired that such screens are not typically kept in stock as they are rare, so it took ages to find an autoglass company that had one. But the one I used (some generic name like AutoWindscreens) did a perfectly quick, tidy and compentent job.

The heated seats are squab & backrest
W124 windscreen costs have come down recently - my local company, 3rd Party Windscreens, were quoting just over £100 fitted
A good tweak for all W124s is new front ARB bushes - this cures clonking noises over speed humps & road bumps and improves the ride a lot. About £4 each and there are four of them
If the engine shakes the body at startup or shutdown you need an engine mount or two - about £60 each for most W124s
Harshness / clonks when going on & off the power can be the front prop doughnut and / or the diff mount bushes
Final tweak is new leading bushes for the rear subframe - £62 / pair and replacing them removes clonks from the rear on rough roads
Prices may be higher for 500Es

I've done the ARB bushes on my 91 500E and like you say, it really does make a difference.
Does your company do maintenance work on the W124 aswell?
I think I need new engine mounts and prop doughnut, rear subframe mounts I recently saw a write up on how to do them etc which makes me want to do them now haha.
I recently fitted new shocks, spring cups at the front, rear spheres and top mounts all round.
It would be good to find a specialist who is well versed on the 124.

i need to do those on mine, i can see 1/4" of air between the bar & rubber!that black car is just stunning, i love it
The factory coating on the ARB is worn away by the bush leaving a gap between the two. Replacing the bushes gives an improvement in this case but replacing the ARB will cure the problem if the coating has worn away. I suspect that powder-coating the ARB might be an alternative solution
I don't do mechanical work but can suggest people. Email me for details

Thanks. There are interior shots further up the thread (p.2).
It's got 298,000 kms on the clock...but had a new engine from Merc 90,000kms ago.

Thanks. I should have checked first, really!
Was the one of Charles Ironside's stock? The car and the engine story seem familiar
