I will check out prices at Bosch and also what is available from USA.As car seems to be running well at the moment - How does the one broken wire in the MAF manifest itself in engine performance?
Powersteering fuid leak somwhere on the front as well!
It will likely be giving an incorrect reading to the ECU, which will push your fuel mixture away from the optimum setting. Basically costing you money (fuel) and performance.

My E500 is off back to Ironside on a lowloader...it is not a happy bunny presently, having developed a misfire.

Hope that it is something which can be fixed easily by Ironside. He must have more experience than most with them Certainly more than my local MB Dealer!!

Yes indeed it was. A matter close to the hearts of those on this thread - a faulty distributor - has been identified as the root of the evil misfire by SS Motors in Weybridge (experts in E500Es apparently). They've also identified a faulty coolant level sensor switch and clapped-out gearbox mounts, so Ironside is fixing all that at his expense and returning the car to me by trailor. I am impressed and grateful - looks like the reputation for excellent service is deserved.

I'm currently replacing both propshaft doughnuts, engine mounts and transmission mounts. Supposed to make quite a difference to the NVH. Both engine mounts failed to pass the gap test and apparently few are seen as the engine is so smooth anyway.

Sounds like Ironside deserve their reputation.

Dave!

How do you replace a blown front foglight bulb? In the fog las week, I noticed in the reflection in the back of a coach that one of mine has died.

You'll have to go down to WHS and take a look - I can only scan it as a pdf and have no idea how to convert a pdf into anything postable on here.
