Ebay don't help the seller at all,
I Sell a lot of used parts on ebay, to be fair 99% is great ,but sometimes an idiot will come along, put a dispute in because he's changed his mind after buying an item. ebay/paypal side with the buyer , makes no sense as there are a few buyers who know this and they do this on purpose.
e.g i sold a vw golf ashtray, buyer disputes saying it was,t as described. so i asked return item i'll fully refund. to which he replies I can't get to post office,work 6 days a week! but i sent item recorded delivery to which he signed for? anyway Ebay says I had to refund him, I did £7.50p. he never sent item back,had cheek to send message "thanks for the ashtray"
that was only £7.50, £800 is a different matter, of course.
may be annoying, to take them back ,just make sure "your tyres" get returned without any damage before you refund them.

So 99% is fine and you get an easy system to reach worldwide?

Ebay is not 'that' bad imho.

There are scum on each side, but much of teh stuff would sold 'dahn the mahket', otherwise and teh same dodgy st would go on.

I only ever really sell stuff on ebay that is quite specialised (painted miniatures, warhammer etc) as a sideline.

Never really have much bother with that as most buyers are genuine.

However when i sold an x-box a few years ago, the amount of times i had the auction cancelled due to "bidders not having control of their account" was astonishing.

So i avoid selling cars, electronics or high value items now as its a bloody minefield, and since they removed the ability to give buyers negative feedback, and paypal automatically takes cash out of your bank in disputes and 9 times out of 10 the buyers gets refund and keeps what you sent them, its a bit of a ballache.

But it is still good for buying stuff from shops on ebay for stuff from japan etc, but the biggest issue is, ebay used to be basically a jumble sale, good bargains to be had and some rarities, now its a professional online shop basically, but people still assume its a bargain, and the amount of messages i get "How much to end auction now?" etc is unbelievable, i always reply with "Against ebay policy, so bid or dont!"

OK so I've looked into all the garbage Ebay is sending me about this and it's quite interesting.

They have definitely sent this guy the money without asking him to return the tyres first.

They have unfrozen my Paypal account and the transaction now says money refunded by Ebay, please reimburse Ebay.

There is no Paypal fee refund in my account for the original transaction.

There is no final value or listing fee refund in my Ebay account.

At the moment they are only threatening to restrict my Ebay account.

I have no idea if they have told him to send them back or if I get my original fees back if I give Ebay the money.

I joined Ebay over 10 years ago before the buyer protection agreement existed so who knows if I even have to play along here.

It's all extremely unprofessional and disreputable on Ebay's part as far as I'm concerned.

I just sold a brand new iPad on Ebay. Some suspicious fker with no feedback was bidding it up to ridiculous prices (more than you can buy it from Amazon for) so promptly blocked him. I checked out the winning bidder's feedback and they've bought one item this year: a furry mouse used for playing with cats. I'm not hopeful of getting paid, I've had no contact from them yet.
