Good Morning,
So, a friend of mine has offered me an Omega Seamaster GMT which is in amazing condition. It was bought by her ex-husband in 2001/2 (she thinks) and he hardly wore it - its been sat in a drawer for the last five years or so.
She can't find the box -so it comes without papers.
I've inspected it - all seems to working well, not a scratch on it - has a 007 bracelet so I'm thinking it might be the 007 40th anniversary edition. No mention of 007 on the watch face (thankfully - would not be interested if there was).
She is looking for somewhere between £1,000 - 1,200 for it. As a friend I'm sure I can make an offer at the lower end of that range.
Problem is I already own:
Tag Heuer Carrera.
Sinn 856-S UTC
Max Bill Chronoscope (bought this year)
Fortis Marinemaster (vintage '70S, bought this year)
Plus a Poljot alarm watch and 3 G-shocks, all bought this year.
I don't really want to add to this collection (this year) unless the Seamaster is really good value. Does anyone on here have any views - is this a good buy or not?
Thanks.

If it's the Great White (white face) - BUY IT.

Can you post up a picture of it? My brother had a Seamaster GMT from about 2000/2001 and it may be a similar model. If it is a GMT then it will not have any 007 limited edition link to it as only the normal Seamaster and recently Planet Ocean models have been used as the basis for the Bond limited editions.
My brother's GMT did have the same style bracelet as that fitted to my classic Bond-style Seamaster although the clasp was different, being a hidden butterfly style.
Pics of the watch, case back, bracelet and clasp would be useful.

Kicking myself for not taking photos yesterday, however it looks exactly like this: http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/seamaster/300-m-...Except the bezel is all silver, not bi-coloured. I'm really finding it a difficult decision....lovely watch but I'm struggling to give my Sinn enough wrist time at present, would love to wear the Max Bill more....bit of a dilemma!!

Yeah - the Blowers one did have box and papers. But if you're just buying it and not looking to sell it straight on I guess it's a decent deal.

The Blowers watch with two-tone bezel as mentioned above is the one my brother had although as I said his had a different bracelet. The GMT has never been a big seller in the UK as we all seemed to want the Bond version (black and blue) or the sword hand model (reference escapes me for the time being) but I think that for a grand it is a reasonable buy. Could be a good beater!

Thanks for the response though, much appreciated. That's it - no more additional watches for me for at least the next 18 months....

CardShark said: You can't be coming in here making blasphemous statements like that Well I did say that only three weeks ago when I received my vintage Fortis Marinemaster. Seriously hoping I can manage better than three weeks this time.... I'm sure I have all of your support in this endeavour .
