Is this a new feature? or have I got some sort of spammy virus
For instance looking at this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
"halfords", "corsa VXR" and other key words are hyperlinks.
I've also noticed it in a few other forums, but not on other websites, which makes me think its a new feature on here.

It is for non-logged in users.
Just today I was seeing them whilst logged-in until I disabled them totally via Adblock. It is for non-logged in users.
If I could be sure PH adequately vetted and controlled adverts then I'd whitelist the site, but the intrusive and occasionally disruptive ad strategies employed here (against PH management wishes, reading between the lines of RacingPete's comments) mean that's a no-no. Suffered a drive-by infection once (on The Register, of all places), never again.
Really, really hateful. One of the worst forms of ads IMHO as you can't tell what is a link made by the poster or an ad without hovering.
I was getting it when logged in on this thread:

austinsmirk's post, "selling a car" in the first line was highlighted.
All gone now though.
