I have a question about the 6-CD and standard head on BMW.

I want to be able to burn MP3 to CDs at home and then play them in the car - does anyone know if the system is capable of this (I think not as standard) and what upgrades are neccesary to do this?

cheers

Who makes the standard kit for the new Beemers? Is it still Blaupunkt?

I put a Kenwood MP3 CD head-unit in mine when they first came out, but the newer Kenwood (£300-£600) and Alpine (£400-£2000) models can drive a MP3 CD changer as well.

No!

You will need a MP3 multi-changer.

Alternatively you could go for a hard drive based system which come in 5-60gb formats.

Have a look at http://hardware.mp3.com/hardware/featured/carplayers/?cp=hw_main for lots of info.
