Hello,

Strongly considering a diesel VRS to replace my Seat Arona.

I do 1200 miles a month commuting and have additional on top for other journeys here and there.

I struggle really to get better than 40mpg in the little 1L petrol I have at the moment and generally cruise to work on dual carriageways at around 65mph. I can take either a 38 or 56 mile round trip.

Anyone got the same car or similar (GTD / A3) that may shed some light on the MPG I could be getting?

I'll be doing all servicing short of belts myself to keep costs down.

I'll also have my bikes on the roof from time to time and tow a caravan in the future too.

Cheers.

I have a Passat Estate 2.0 diesel auto and whilst it's the family car, the lowest MPG i've seen is 48 (high speed with roofbox on top). Highest is around 68mpg driving like a granny.

Mine usually does 50mpg through a mixture of motorway and A/B roads, driven up to the indicated speed limit. If set on cruise at 60-65mph it'll return 60-65mpg on long journeys.

Trip to Skegvegas via Lincoln last week, 150 mile round trip on A roads and it averaged 60mpg.
