Always thought he was impressive and his focus on reform as opposed to political partisanship was welcome.

Nice guy, I sold his constituency office their landlines and calls in around 2008 smile

Don't really know much about his politics but he loved a chat.

A really good man. I met him on a couple of occasions.

Night and day from the current breed of politicians, regardless of affiliation

Sad news, I always respected his focus on welfare reform to exclude malingerers.

RIP

He was one of the few MPs who I would call a public servant rather than a politician. It says he was not married and did not have any children. He was focused and dedicated to his work.

He studied economics at uni and made use of that in this career. He cared more about doing good for the public that promoting his own career. His high profile speaks volume about his work and dedication.

How so very, very true.

The current crop couldn't hold a candle to him.

I really rated the bloke. Pragmatic, not wedded to any ideology, in touch with the concerns of local people.
