I've just finished reading it (in two stages - it is long!) and it is worrying. This letter should be forwarded to all MPs, local council leaders and Police Chiefs. It's a good reason for joining the ABD and starting to oppose the (generally) well-meaning folk in the anti-car pressure groups. I wish our politicians would act on facts and not be so bloody PC.

I think it would need serious editing as the attention span of your average MP is probably measured in nano-seconds, especially when concerning a subject they give little thought for Rich...

Holy crap !! Even if you were to treat this as an extreme view, if 50% of it comes to fruition then we're in bigger trouble than I thought !

I have tried the link but it does not seem to work. I had a look on their site but could not find the letter, they may have removed it if so do you still have a copy might be interesting to read. Paul

Paul go to the site www.abd.org.uk and click on the link there - that works. Add to that the use of the video surveillance system to catch your parking on a double yellow line, and the new telecomms law which allows automated echelon-like surveillance of ALL emails, data and voice traafic - and we really have got BIG Brother. I am not being paranoid - this is the reality. If we don't sit up soon, each do our bit - then goodnight.

http://www.abd.org.uk/police_letter.htm is the link, note the lack of the "l" at the end. Makes all the difference in bringing up the page

Get in there and join the ABD - give them some funds to make a more high profile campaign possible - I have joined - I think it's time to take a stand against this nanny state and it's earth mother attitude. WE are not criminals for wanting to enjoy our cars, nor are we an extremist fringe. How can we be equated with drug dealers and the misery they cause, burglars who beat up old ladies for £10, child pornographers etc. WE are being tarred with the same brush of anti-social activists. If we don't stand up and have a voice, there will soon be absolutely NO enjoyment or individual freedom in our lives - all our activities will be monitored and moderated by pressure groups with a single axe to grind, backed by a reactionary, populist government who jump at every fashionable "cause" and say it supports one-legged lesbian gay whale creche facilities in bus stations, or whatever. I'm really worried that we will be persecuted until it's no longer worth having a sports car....

I second that. I also suggest joining LIBERTY. www.liberty-human-rights.org.uk. Look, for instance, at ~/mparl2.html. FourWheelDrift, be careful that the neighbours you hate for probably good reason don't whisper to the police that they think your "lavish life style" is financed by drugs. Soon, they can confiscate your assets just on police suspicion. I'm not being paranoid, if you look closely you will realise that things are really that bad. Whether it has been done deliberately or not, I don't know. But in the name of drug and accident prevention everything you need for BIG BROTHER is there in place. FACT: I have driven around 30 years. I had one accident in my 1st year. Since then I have driven around 1..5 million miles without accident (touch wood) Most of the time I am "speeding" - driving 120-150 mph on german motorways. Yet I am CONVINCED that most TVR drivers are better drivers than I am. Speed kills?? Total crap!!!!!!!!!!! Bad driving kills. Inappropriate speed is bad driving. WalterU
