I drove home this evening and passed a hidden police car, with two wires leading out from it to a small, square black box, stood about 6 inches off the ground facing the oncoming traffic. It was dark, but it didn't look like any camera I know of.
Any ideas what it was ?

I saw one of them too. Except I reckon it was about a foot off the ground.
Maybe it sniffs exhaust gas, and they stop the most polluting cars? eg Metros, Taxis, and E reg Astras.
Why not stop and ask them !!!
You do pay their wages and buy the kit after all, most of the time you will be pleasantly suprised by the reaction you get.
