Basically I'm looking for somewhere in south wales that can be trusted to upgrade the sound in my E46 BMW. For anyone who has one they will know how rubbish the factory sound system is. Cardiff would be preferable but I don't mind travelling. Recommendations from first hand experience would be appreciated. Sensible prices and labour charges but most importantly someone who will look after the car and treat it like its their own.

Thanks

There is only one, as Logie says, B&B Audio Concepts! They do all our work, just moved now though, over at West Point Industrial Estate.

What is it you are looking to do exactly?

Obviously speaker upgrade but assuming you want to do much more i.e fit amps, cross overs, subs etc. it will be costly.

I worked in halfords fitting speakers, subs wiring up amps etc.and wiring up a typical amp, sub, headunit and speakers will take not much more than 2hours really, and they used to charge a FORTUNE.

A lot of the time its down to simply buying speaker adaptors, to fit larger speakers, and buying fascia plates for the upgraded headunit (not to forget smart adaptor for the steering wheel controls)

I would imagine an upgraded headunit and high quality speakers with tweeters will be sufficient for most peoples needs!

All of the speakers will need upgrading, I'm after good quality sound that can be played relatively loud (but not excessively) without distortion and without being harsh on my ears. Full range of sound is important so I'll probably need at least a 10inch sub. Again, quality of bass is important as opposed to something that is going to shake the car to pieces. I also want to keep everything looking stock (apart from the sub in the boot obviously) which does complicate matters a little.

I don't really want to spend more than a £1000 not sure if I'm asking too much from my budget.

Not really you should be bang on the money for a £1000.
Im sure you could get some quality products at that price.
My Neighbour has spent in excess of £2000 with various things at B&B, and his friends had his X5 fitted out for £3000.
I have no experience with E46 headunits but I would be shocked if you could run an amp off them with much success due to most amps require preouts, I would be shocked if these came standard on BMW units.
I may be wrong though!

Another Vote for B&B. Go down there, explain what you're after and you're budget and go from there. They'll give great advice either way!

Sorry guys, I had an absolute nightmare with moving sounds in Newport. Granted it was a few years ago now but I won't go there again. I have used gwent car sounds in Newport or Uplands in Cardiff and was happy with both.
