Im tired of looking with no luck at all for a ubuntu converter which will convert my AVI file to a MP4 or H.264 so i can watch it on my iphone.

can any one help?

ffmpeg will most likely do the encoding for you - it's the daddy where MPEG4 and H.264 are concerned.

However it's a command-line application, so you'll be memorizing loads of freaky-weird arguments in order to tweak it just right for your phone...

I guess you should be looking for a nice GUI app that uses ffmpeg to do the encoding behind the scenes.
