http://www.taxcredits.org.uk/

So, apparently there is a chance HMRC may have underpaid me some allowances, and this very official looking website has the lowdown.

All looks very promising, and an extra 500 + quid would be quite useful ATM.

So, downloaded the (again) very official looking form, and on page one, it says;

'Once we receive your claim, we will liaise with the Inland Revenue to determine whether you are eligible for the
rebate.'

So, you aren't actually HMRC then?

On the next line...

'Please note, The Entitlements Agency will retain any interest and £94exc vat for processing and administration.'

At this point, my 'scam' alarm is ringing.

Surely if I am owed this cash, I can just ask HMRC for it, without stumping up over a hundred quid to what appears to be an official agency (but may just be a gang of chancers) for the paperwork?

Has anyone any experience of this? Am I just being paranoid, and is the cash actually there to be claimed at all?

Thought as much. MSE says that a phone call to the tax Credits helpline will achieve the same result at a discount of approx 94 quid plus VAT.

So, why are these chancing bds allowed to target vulnerable people through their FaceBook accounts in this way? Have they taken over from Ocean Finance and FirstPlus? Coming to an add-break in the Jeremy Kyle show, or on Nick2 soon?

Got to say that website is a good copy of Inland revenue forms. Very convincing.

These people are pure scum. They target the poor to extract money from them.

If the populace didnt have such a mistrust of this goverment and their sycophants there would be no market for these cowboys, but while labour are in control they will breed and feed.

Private company made up to look like a gov't department.

If you click the link to the "Single Claim Form" page three is an HMRC form authorising "The Entitlements Agency Ltd" to discuss your affairs with HMRC.

Ans that 0800 number is also used for one of those 'you are entitled to free home insulation' companies.

They have a .org web site and are running a business from it, and no company address/reg no. on the site as far as I can see which I thought was illegal?

They also advertise the 'write off your debts' thing.

I almost got scammed yesterday while looking for a loan. Was on the phone to a broker who couldnt help me so passed me onto another broker who could help me and provide a low APR, just need to give them my card details.. "who are you again?" "vantage loans" (was online at the time and did a search - couldnt find any evidence) "why do you need my card details?" "in order for you to pay us the £49 fee for providing you the details of the available deals"

me: "click"

Easy to spot if a website is 'official' or not - all government sites are ( or at least are supposed to be ) www.xxxx.gov.uk

That website should be stamped on, now.
