I've got a WB Greenstar condensing combi in the loft. About 3.5 years old.

Recently noticed that every 10-15 minutes or so you can hear the house's cold water supply draw water for a ten second(ish) burst. None of the toilets are over-flowing and the sound seems to definitely head up into the loft. No taps are running!

The hot water pre-heat function is set to 'off'.

It might only occur when the (timed) radiators are on.

The boiler is set to 'On' - not 'Timed'.

Any idea what it could be?

(Side note: Had it serviced at the end of last summer; our gas usage has shot up since. Could be a link?)

Your gas and water suppliers have entered into a pact to increase your bills. When your boiler was "serviced", they were actually fitting some kind of water/gas increasing usage device.

HTH.

Really?

Bugger.

I guess that explains the jet of boiling water shooting out the back of the house!

The boiler turns the pump for a few seconds every 24 hours so it may be that you can hear, but it is impossible for the DHW to activate the boiler unless you have a leak somewhere (but it would fire all the time) only other thing would be the plate heat exchanger leaking into the heating circuit but you would have the water (pressure) gauge on the boiler rising to mains pressure and probably leaking out the safety PRV pipe?.
