Car insurance for importing a De Tomaso
Discussion
Morning,
I have also posted in General, but i did wonder if anybody here has gone through the same with an unusual car.
I am looking to buy a car in Belgium and then drive it back, it is 3 hours to the Channel Tunnel - it is this 3 hours that is the problem.
No insurer will incept the policy whilst the car is outside of the UK, but will cover it on Chassis number once it gets off the train. I am stuck with "computer says no" but without actually thinking about why.
As a thought once I pass through the UK passport control in the terminal in Calais before you board the train, would they accept that as UK ? I could transport the car to the terminal as a "laid up policy", but then i would drive it onto the train ?
Has anybody done this and managed to cover the car before it gets to the UK ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
