Can't find the original 'MotoGP paddock rumours' thread, so sorry for the new one.

Just been told that Rossi has been confirmed back at Yamaha.

Good? Bad? Sponsors? Who's going to fill the Duke seat? Where will Dovi go?

Discuss... wink

Ok, chaps... er, may have jumped the gun on this a bit. Heard it from a mate (albeit a VERY well connected one) and he's just told me that it's not official yet, even though it is (if you see what I mean) - I got the impression it was.

Yeah, the pressure is definitely on. Presumably we're going to see what will effectively be two Yamaha Works teams, each running one bike?

Which is why he probably isn't pushing as hard as Hayden. He's in limbo at the moment, if they don't get the bike working he HAS TO move.
Yeah, exactly. You've got a nail to hammer in to a block of wood, but no hammer. Do you use your hand, or wait for someone to give you a hammer?

So Rossi is an expert on engine configuration now too is he?
At the risk of repeating myself: Honda use a 60 degree V4, Yamaha use a 60 degree V4. Only bikes with this engine configuration have won titles since Stoner's in 2007. Rossi might not be, Honda and Yamaha appear to be.

Apriliaer said:
Remember Ducati had a front-running machine, before they got a new rider in...
No they didn't. They haven't had a front running bike since 2007.

Anyway, Stoner is amazing, Rossi is amazing. Stoner could ride the Ducati of 2007, Rossi can't ride the Ducati of 2011/2012. I don't see why people have to try to compare them based solely on whether or not they can ride bikes built by a manufacturer five seasons and two major regulation changes apart. It's like comparing drivers of a Williams from the mid-nineties, to a driver of a Williams in the 2000s. Or, moronic.

Hey OP - Your inside information wasn't MCN was it? I've just bought a copy and they'd make me believe it to.
No, a friend of mine. He's very reliable with this kind of thing.

Is there a reason for you being a bit of a dick about this, or are you doing it for fun?

I got told something by a friend of mine, I got the impression that it was being announced very soon. Turns out it's not. So, instead of doing the usual and flying off the handle at people questionin it, I apologised for posting it. Someone asked me if my source was MCN, I said it wasn't, it was a mate of mine. The same mate who told me Rossi had signed for Ducati long before it was announced - I'd say that makes him 'pretty reliable'.

So, if you haven't got anything useful to add, don't bother. Cheers.

No offence but your original post falls under the 'nothing useful to add' category as its just hearsay and conjecture, I too have friends in the MotoGP paddock but don't go announcing what they have heard here for all and sundry to look like I have an inside line ....

So come on who is your source ? and I bet he's glad he tol you eh ???
As usual, I think we're suffering from the standard forum problem of NOT READING THINGS PROPERLY.

So, let's review shall we.

I get a message from a friend of mine who I consider reliable saying 'Rossi's been confirmed at Yamaha'. Because I know that people on here are keen to know the situation, I post it.

Let's have a look at my original post:

If I wanted to look like 'I had the inside line' I'd probably have made more of a fuss about exactly how I'd heard it.

Less than an hour later...

And then...

So, I'm not exactly sure what more you want from me? I posted a bit of information that I thought was solid. Turns out that it wasn't, I apologised, and yet people are having a go about it! I won't gloat when it's confirmed, if you promise not to rip the piss if it isn't.

Can we dop this now, please?

Let's get one thing clear here.......YOU did not make those cakes. You're a biker. Your Mrs made the cakes whilst you were changing the engine on your R1 with your bare hands.....no tools required. You came indoors, downed a dozen wife-beaters, and polished off the HOME MADE SCONES whilst Mrs K was sorting out your dinner.
I may be a biker, but I am also THE st when it comes to baked goods. Those brownies are the danglies. smile

What are Ducati supposed to do, Dovi is beating cal week in week out. There's no one more than me wants to see Cal spanking Dovi's arse. I've never been one for getting excited and shouting at the TV untill this year when Cal has looked to be faster than Dovi but not able to make the pass.
Yeah, bloody frustrating isn't it?

Dovi's just too good/Cal's just not good enough on the brakes.

So 2013-14 on an M1, 2015-16 on an R1 in WSBK then? Superbikes seem to suit old boys, or vice versa.

I don't see Rossi winning the title next year just because he's back at Yamaha. New bike, no Burgess, team mate very settled and lots of rivals wanting to make a point or rookies making a mark.

Septic Peg's 2013 title prediction.
1) Lorenzo
2) Pedrosa
3) Marquez
4) Rossi
I'm going for

1) Lorenzo
2) Pedrosa
3) Rossi
4) Marquez

But only because I think Marquez is going to spend quite a bit of 2013 flying through the air.

I reckon it's simply a case of not having the time to wait. He's probably got two more seasons in him, it will probably take Ducati at least 2013 to get the bike sorted (assumming they can) with an undoubtedly massive pile of Audi cash, which will only leave one season for him to win again.

Not long enough. If he was going to 'do the triple' he needed to swap for the 2008 season - nothing to do with relative bike competitiveness, just career time.
