Forgive me for the rather dull, diesel, pickup thread but i'm really struggling with this quandry!

I'm looking to contract hire either a Nissan Navara Outlaw or a Mitsubishi L200 Animal/Warrior. My reasoning behind choosing these two are to turn it into a mobile advertising platform (as well as the obligatory beaujolais runs to France). Now, they're both pretty much on a par in terms of spec and pricing. I'm not particularly concerned about the 'look' that each one has (although the L200 is a tad odd). So I suppose ultimately it boils down to performance, comfort & ownership experiances. Clearly if i'm using it for business, it has to be pretty reliable - but in a modern car you'd expect that anyway! Cost of servicing is important, i've never dealt with either Mitsubishi or Nissan before in my murky motortrade past so I don't know if they're stupidly expensive?

I suppose what i'm really after is people to share with me any tales of woe or tales of orgasmic enjoyment etc.

Navara

L200

What do you fine folk think?

Hi mate
My partner had exactly the same quandry a couple of months ago and after extensive research and testing he went for the Navara. Not sure exaclty what swung him, but he has had it a few weeks now and loves it!

All the stuff I've read says the Navara is the best.

Have got a new shape L200 Warrior. Can't fault it at all. It's got a smaller loadspace than the Navara but much much more room in the rear cab. Have had 6 footers in the back with no problems at all.

L200 is better off road and has got the smallest steering lock of any pick-up (handy for parking). Great 4x4 system from the Shogun, can leave it in 4 wheel drive all the time without 'winding up' the transmission.

If you've got any other questions on the L200 then please feel free to ask.

Service every 12000 miles, they offer fixed price servicing, all details here...www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/newl200/

Cheers

Jon

I haven't tried the L200, but was loaned a Navara by a garage a few weeks ago, and was impressed. Drives really well for a 4x4, and the diesel engine with 6 speed box was a good 'un. Nissan are producing some really good products at the moment.

There was a thread about this yesterday or the day before. Half of it was taken up with a disagreement about what the service intervals are but there might be some useful stuff.

Love my Navara, I went for the Outlaw Auto Double Cab version. Great motorway cruiser as well as chucking tools in the back. I recommend to load liner for the pick up area. Prevented a few nasty spills!

I thought they were changing so that these things were will be as unattractive from a financial perspective as they are from every other perspective (unless you're a builder)?

'They've' been saying it for years but as yet haven't actually done anything about it.

Thanks for the insights folks, certainly some mixed views to consider. Keep them coming. thumbup

Old shape L200, I use one at work, and I prefer it to the Navara, that I used a couple of years ago.

More space (in the cab) better gadgets better driving position and looks better.

And please don't buy it in silver, I'm sick of looking at silver pickups, cheers thumbup

Flat rate tax is going from £500 to £3000 a year. Still means you only pay about £660 (on normal tax bracket) a year, bargain!

It's got to be black so the signwriting fits in with corporate identity.

I'm a member of the L200 Owners Club, have a look here, the same question was asked a week ago...

I don't know about the new L200 but we run five Navarras and three old L200 Animals and the Navarra is a lot better to drive. Looks good in company livery too

What's the attraction? Is it the tonka looks or do they not drive like they look?

The new shape L200 with the big rear box on it looks very Paris Dakar though!
