Just tried and got an epic fail. Do you mean your homepage or by using your search function on your browser? I would recommend downloading the google toolbar too. It's quite good.

Bring up the google search page, select the UK radio button, click on search (leave the text field blank). This brings up a new search page with UK selected. Make that your default search page.

Make that your default search page. That won't work - when you next search for something it'll default back. The only way is to click the radio button. If you use Google UK as the home page it tends to favour UK anyway.

So what this means is that in order to get all UK searches via Google, I would first have to set Google as homepage?
I've got the search provider option in the tool bar, I just want the default (currently set as Google) to give me UK results and not USA.

Works a treat and has kept the UK radio button checked on reopening FF, clicking home, back button, multiple searches and any other means I tried to fool it.

Using regedit start-run-regedit Navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\ Search the key using find (CTRL+F) and look for google.com
Replace the suffix with .co.uk and it should then use the google UK search from the small window in the top of IE7
It might be easier to just search for this key though: Name: URL type: REG_SZ data: h ttp://www.google.com/search?q={searchTerms}&rls=com.microsoft:{language}:{referrer:source?}&ie={inputEncoding}&oe={outputEncoding}&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGIH
I've had to put a space between the h & the ttp in the url, because the forum truncates it.
Hope this helps?

Go to settings, top right, then options, click in the search box settings box and at the bottom in use google site, use the drop down arrow for United Kingdom which you will find at the very top of the page, not where you think it should be under U Hope this helps

so complicated
goto the site you want to have as homepage
tools, options, use current site as homepage
no need to pratt around with the registry
probably something similar in IE, but using FF

Even if you set google.co.uk as home page, it still uses google.com in the toolbar until you change some settings. Siddi's post above is the easiest solution so far.

In IE7
Tools > Internet Options > Change Search Providers > Find More Providers > New IE window opens up > See Global Search Guides > United Kingdom (English) > choose Google from the list.
That seems to work for me.
HTH (if I have)

Ok, this is how you do in on a Mac:
Right-click on the FireFox icon within your Applications folder to open up the Contents folder for FireFox.
Here's the path to the file you need to edit: Applications > FireFox > Contents > MacOS > searchplugins > google.xml
Just open with a simple text editor (TextEdit, TextMate, nano) if you've got it, and change the part of the file that says:
<SearchForm>http://www.google.com/firefox</SearchForm>
to this:
<SearchForm>http://www.google.co.uk/firefox</SearchForm>
That should do it. You could change every instance of google.com to google.co.uk in that XML file to be comprehensive about it.
