Funny isn't it that even Moto GP bikes have a rear brake and they're there for a reason - to be used.
Didn't John Hopkins say that the rear brake should be painted red and marked for emergency use only? The rear on my bike isn't worth having, it does f

There's a quote from - if I remember correctly - Wayne Rainey in one of Keith Code's books, which says 'I occasionally use the rear brake when I pull into the pit garage...'Some do, some don't. When I was racing, I never did, but then again, I never ended up winning any BSB or WSB titles either, lol!
Interestingly, Mick Doohan had his thumb operated rear brake fitted after his busted leg disaster at Assen in '93, and he used to talk about how useful it was to control wheelspin?
And so, the argument rages on.....

If you've worn the rear pad out so quickly you may want to reassess your riding, the front brakes are far more effective at stopping you and probably a lot safer than using as much rear as you do. If you want to use some rear that's fine, but to wear a pad out in such a short time is quite astonishing.PS - you don't "grab" at the front brake.

The thing is that rear brakes are crap on bikes and do very little. I filtered loads when I used to commute on a bike, but never bothered with the rear brake. Each to their own, but you need to lift your foot off it.Motorbike brakes are very different to pushbikes.
