Last year, after the unfortunate cancellation of the first SCH 2012, at the suggestion of TJC46 ( now a convert to the Dark Side ) a number of 'S'talwarts ( nothing to do with Harry Potter ) met up at a pleasant venue called Barn Farm Camping in Birchover, somewhere in remotest Derbyshire. They cater for caravans and tents, and there is plenty of space for all comers, even those without an S.
I think all who attended in 2012 had a marvellous time, it's an excellent site with good amenities, two pleasant hostelries selling real ale - they even had Essington Ale, so we drank all of that! beer & good food within easy staggering distance, and ideally located for a good scenic run out. driving

I would like to propose we do a repeat this year, on Sat 18th / Sun 19th May.
If anyone fancies it ( a weekend camping that is ), please put your names here,
there is no need to pre-book, but an indication of numbers would be of help in securing the best area for camping. You can attend in any vehicle, Mini's laden with bacon especially welcome. Even Chimaeras - we are very tolerant peeps. smile

Edit: I chose these dates because as far as I know there's no clash with other events. And it's going to be sunny smile

No Andy, I haven't the resources / IT skills / contacts / wherewithall to organise such a grand event.

This is just a chilled weekend for like-minded TVR people to have fun in good company, and maybe a nice run out.

The venue for SCH 2013 is still to be decided, and still needs an organiser/team to come forward.
Thoresby last year was a last-minute success, thanks to Dave M & team saving the day, so could be repeated this year.
Personally I would like to see a return to Newark Kit Car Show, whenever that is, it has lots to do & see & also had camping facilities. But it needs someone a bit more local with the time & committment to lead the way.

Sorry glen did not mean to upset you, I was only joking about the S Club.

It will be good to catch up, and share a beer, and race those snails.

Andy.

Any more takers? Dave? Tom? Graham? Phillpot? Tinks & Penny? Barry? Max?
Tony? Mike? Niiige? Chrischat?

Think of nice sunny weather, barbequed peacock, proper ale, fine wines and jolly good company. And the smell of Bacon in the morning. Mmmmmm.

Sounds a really good idea, thank you for posting clap. I'd love to join in but I'm off to Laon in the S and the following weekend Spa in the cerb! Never driven abroad before....

I can answer one of the above questions though as we had a form through today:

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June 2013

Newark Kit Car Festival
(Newark Showground)

Non-TVRCC event. Large Kit Car and Classic Car Show.

Thanks Dave,
Duly noted in my diary - it's the same w/end as Knebworth.

Quick query - Why is it a non-TVRCC event? I think surely our Tivs come in the Classic category.

Enjoy your trips ( Where's Laon? Sounds a sleepy kinda place ).
Driving abroad is ok, but if you see somebody approaching on the wrong side of the road, you have to ask yourself: "Or is it me?" biggrin

Cheers,
Glen

You're welcome Glensmile
Sorry, that may have been confusing. 'Non-TVR' only means we are not organising it (I extracted it from TVR CC web site), TVRs will of course be welocome. It is possible there may be a specified TVR area but I'm not sure yetsmile

Laon is about 100miles inside France and is a walled city with a major classic car show. I'm going to that with a friend in a Cobra, then Longers kidnapped me, forced beer into me and made me sign up for Spa hehe. I didn't realise they were consecutive weekends lol.

Put me down as a definite...maybe.

Missed last year due to the world being mostly underwater.

I want to get there this year, but the only problem is this would be the 4th weekend in a row away if I make it to Chatsworth, Duxford, and TitT/brooklands in each of the preceding weeks...still, maybe a quiet weekend under canvas under the scorching sun would be a nice rest for me... wink,

Nice one Andy,
Just tell yourself that a weekend without Tivving is just a waste.
And rest assured that the campsite is self-draining. We arrived on the wettest day of the wettest year since records began, and not a trace of dampness could be found.
That's why we had to seek out the local hostelry.
And we all went topless the next day, which I know you love.
If you don't enjoy it, you can eat Andy Lynch's mankini.

Welcome aboard. thumbup

You're most welcome Kev, as long as you leave the golf clubs at home.
( Makes more more room for the beer essentials.) smile
