focussed events I think. some chaps from jhp and the 848 challenge going. I sponsor one of them, so am tagging along - not been on track for a couple of years, and never with a panigale, so should be fun. have chickened out and plumped for the inters though.
Tempted myself. Weather forecast looks ok & having never done Donny before it would be good to get a day in before the Ducati one (don't want to be the slowest on track !!!)Might double check forecast tomorrow & if still ok book onto it.
Did make it in the end, although wasn't the best day.
First problem was with the booking. I'd booked into Inters but on arrival was told I'd have to go in novices. Hey go I thought, 1st time at Donny & the track was a bit wet & I was on road tyres (which are near slick). First session went ok, getting used to circuit, etc. then the sun came out & the next 3 sessions were shocking, with riding stopping mid corner, etc. I had been told I could move group at lunch time so had to do these sessions having no real fun as loads of people in track.
After lunch moved into inters & 1st session was ok. Found someone quicker who appeared to know what he was doing & followed him round which helped with learning lines, etc.
Next session was a disaster. Starting having problems with the gearbox which resulted in quick shifter not working very well & not engaging next gear & false neutrals. Not great & ended up running off on the hairpin before the main straight which isn't I suppose that bad, but 2 laps later ended up on grass/gravel after Cramer curved. But more concerned at this one & had it in my head that something bad was to happen if I kept trying to ride with the problems with gearbox.
As such just pulled off track, packed up & went home.
Bikes booked in at dealers for them to look at (can't get it in neutral at all now).
Suppose at least got to know track layout before being back there in May on Ducati day.
Some quick guys there, the quickest of which seemed to be on a yellow/blue WD40 sponsored bike with matching leather. He looked soooooo quick.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Hobo.
I presume this is the gearbox on the Panigale? if so, thats not a good development. This was meant to be an improved box design/components
And if it's what i think it is ( i had similar issues on an 1198 box) it's a big BIG job.
The motor will need to come out and be totally disassembled to get to the gearbox. Ducati still don't have a cassette style box so it's a complete strip and split the cases affair. Having assisted on a couple of Panigale repairs here i can tell you there's a ton of work just to pull the motor and get it ready for stripping.
I would recommend you make alternative bike arrangements for the date in May as i'd be amazed if they get it sorted by then. Their warranty process alone will eat a few weeks then there's getting the parts in. sorry to be a killjoy, but forewarned is forearmed....
Good Luck.
