Ex-Cerbera Owners
Discussion
Maybe this has been asked before but i`m going to ask it again....I have owned Cerbera`s for over 8 years and i`m thinking about a change....but....i don`t know what I would/could replace it with.
For those of you who have owned Cerberas and have sold them:-
A.Did you regret it (i`m sure I would)
B.What did you replace it with?
C.Did the car that replaced the Cerb give you the same huge grin on your face when you drove it and for £ V performance was it worth it?
D.If I did sell I would not be looking at purchasing another TVR....A DB9 would be nice but its the servicing and parts cost that puts me off!
I look forward to comments on this!

A. Not really (although it would be nice to own one as well as the Tam)For those of you who have owned Cerberas and have sold them:-

B. Tamora
C. Yes and yes
D. Having driven company cars all my adult life, a TVR is the only car i've really wanted to own, not much else within reasonable financial limits interests me. If i had money for a DB9 it would be Sag, but not as an every day car.
Used to have a 4.5 RR LW mega car. Then had a daughter and it had to go. 8 years later bought a Tuscan convertible after much consideration although it was the first car I test drove in anger.
Prefer the looks (nowadays) of the Tuscan and I like the wind in my hair but ultimately I miss the Cerb to this day!
I like Astons as much as the next man and Ferarris too for that matter but neither have got under my skin like a TVR (although I haven't ever owned an Aston)

Having owned my wonderful Cerb for 9 years, I found myself just wanting a change. I really wanted a Sagaris, feeling that would be the only way I could top the Cerb. I couldn't afford that, but my next option was affordable - a supercharged Exige.
It's very different to the Cerb, but equally dramatic, equally quick, & possibly even more fun to drive.

A.Did you regret it (i`m sure I would)
Well I did but the costs just prior to selling meant it was a bitter sweet farewell
B.What did you replace it with?
E46 M3
C.Did the car that replaced the Cerb give you the same huge grin on your face when you drove it and for £ V performance was it worth it?
Instant response is no as nothing this side of my Yamaha R6 ever gave the same huge grin but it was considerably cheaper to run and as much as it pains me to admit ... More reliable too.
D.If I did sell I would not be looking at purchasing another TVR....A DB9 would be nice but its the servicing and parts cost that puts me off ...
Having owned a Ferrari and Porsche since I would say costs for this type of car tend to be comparable (although I haven't dipped my toe in the Aston Martin pond just yet ...
By the way this is all irrelevant as I'm hoping to jump back into another TVR once my Porsche sells!

Dont do it Al, i have sold two and regretted it both times! First time for a house, second time for an errr.......emigration! The cheapest(read 'only') cerb for sale here is $70k.....

Yes in a way I do. But the fact of the matter is I wanted one - and I had one. Nobody can ever take that away from me.
B. Haven't replaced it with anything?
I was at a crossroads and a decision had to be made due to an (at the time) impending house purchase. The Tardis (M3) and Her Majesty (V8 Pilot) I'd already convinced myself that I'd never sell so sadly the Cerb was the one that had to go.
C. In the case of myself, the Tardis and Her Majesty give me enough enjoyment and grin factor on different levels. Performance wise, Her Majesty isn't applicable.
The Tardis, well, the harsh reality is that yes the Cerb was quicker all round but, if I'm honest, the Tardis is quick enough to put noses out of joint of `bigger` machinery.
And it isn't that far behind a 4.2 once rolling along. I am tied to the Tardis both emotionally and ££££.D. Another TVR is (hopefully) on the cards for me at some point - once the finances have settled a bit. Might be a while though.

Initially i'm thinking of a Chim. To me, it's a modern day usable hotrod. Yes it won't be the quickest thing in the world but the noise with de-cats.

I'm sure you'll be very happy with a DB9 though !
>A.Did you regret it (i`m sure I would)
Not at all. Had a 4.2. I eventually got fed up with being cooped up inside just a small space. It was a 97 and getting on. Heat, noise, fumes were a bit too much for me.
>B.What did you replace it with?
Tamora.
>C.Did the car that replaced the Cerb give you the same huge grin on your face when you drove it and >for £ V performance was it worth it?
Yes - more so. Very good mpg for it's performance.
D.If I did sell I would not be looking at purchasing another TVR....A DB9 would be nice but its the servicing and parts cost that puts me off!
I look forward to comments on this!
You'd probably feel alot more relaxed when you got to your destination than in the Cerb.
That said I think the Cerb still looks great.

After six years with my cerb I was genuinely getting ready for a change & really wanted another TVR a T350c was the plan but my ownership experience wasn't very smooth & I lost confidence in the brand, swapped it for a Z4M Roadster but I just couldn't get excited about that car for some reason so that lasted 5 months.
So swapped the Z4 for a E92 V8 M3 that I have now as I always wanted one after a test drive back in 2008 & the M3 is a complete allrounder with quite an addictive engine induction noise...but I still hanker after my Cerb loads I just think the sound, sense of occasion & power can't be matched & I want more urge from the M3 already & only had it 3 months.
I think in an ideal world it would be great to have a Cerb(or any TVR) in the garage & have something else fairly exciting to drive daily aswell, bottom line is I think it doesn't matter who you are if you have owned a Cerb you will always look back.

Some interesting replies Chaps....supercharged Exige sounds interesting!.....BMW not for me i`m afraid.....6.3 AMG Merc or Nissan GTR maybe?....seems a lot of you have replaced the Cerb with another TVR but its obvious that the Cerb itch doesn`t go away!
I would prefer both the Merc & GTR over my M3 as they are loads quicker but they are both Auto only & I am not 70 years old yet so I stuck with the interaction of a three pedals mated to a nice high revving V8

Regret's: A few
Replacement: Mercedes SL55AMG, which is as the price reflects a class above and considerably quicker than a TVR, that said I would have another one, probably and older model tomorrow, or as soon as fund allow as you ain't going to tinker much with an SL
Jury out on that claim SL55 faster than TVR? Not a Cerbera or Tuscan speed 6! Ask the Stig and Top Gear the Tuscan was a couple secs faster round the track!? Far too much weight in the SL but it is a lovely car!
