Saw a crash today with a 61 plate panigale on the crossroads of the A57 at Newton on Trent.

The bike had been taken out by a police traffic car that had pulled out of the junction, the bike clipped the back of the car. There where plenty of plod on the scene (5 cars maybe out training?) so no need to stop, bike didn't look to bad hope the rider is ok.

Be careful out there.

Local rag have just got hold of the story. Good news is the injuries are reported as not being life threatening. Lincolnshire Echo website today:

Police are appealing for information after a Lincolnshire Police armed response vehicle was involved in a collision with a motorcyclist on the A1133 at Newton-on-Trent. The vehicle collided with a red Ducati motorbike and the rider, believed to be from Worksop, was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police particularly want to speak to two motorcyclists that were travelling south on the A1133 who crossed the A57 moments before the collision. They may have witnessed the accident and be able to help police with their enquiries.

Anyone with any information should call 101 quoting incident number 226 on April 20.

I though that the Panigale would have detected the possibility of a collision, applied the brakes and taken avoiding action all within 0.05 seconds?

Rubbish. I'm not buying one now.

Sounds unlikely if they had already passed the junction rolleyes

A "moment" could be 30 seconds. They would be half a mile away.

I think this is police speak for, we are banged to rights here but wonder if there is a racing angle we could blame the motorcyclist for. Please will anyone identify themselves as racing with the Ducati.

Possibly they were Jap superbikes, which is why the panigale was behind.

I suggest you make contact and provide a witness statement if you did see the incident.

Hi guys many thanks for all your support, i am the rider of said Panigale and thankfully apart from a broken right hand- which will need to be operated on, torn ligaments on my right knee, several bruises and contusions i feel rather lucky to be here. who would've thought that i would be taken out by a police car!! Still the 'Investigation" is ongoing and therefore i cannot speculate on the findings, safe to say that i was not riding at an excessive speed, i had NO alcohol in my system and there are several witnesses who say EVERYTHING, with this in mind i rather hope that the unbiased investigation comes to the right conclusion. It remains to be seen as these things tend to not work out the way they should, particularly when a police car is involved with a Motorbike. Thank you all for the support and yes if anyone has witness the accident please do come forward. Many thanks

Hey cwg glad you are ok.

On the way home there seemed to be the whole of Lincolnshires police force on route. I can't believe the amount of resource there.

Welcome to PH, I'm glad you're going to be OK and I hope their "investigation" turns out not to be too biased.
