An observation. If I let someone through or out of a gap etc. I usually expect a thanks. Whenever I don't get a thanks, 9 times out of 10 it's a female driver. Also female drivers seem to be less reluctant to move over for you and in general seem to be more rude. Am I wrong?

You are correct, must be something about the female of the species.

This is an interesting one... We live in a small cul de sac off a main road. At busy times of day, one can wait a while for someone to let you out. I noticed that it was nearly always a man who let me out. Imagine my surprise when I mentioned this to my wife and she agreed with me! Her reasoning was that at busy times, women were always on "autopilot" and thinking about something else... So it maybe that our male inability to multitask is why we are "politer"?

Yep, same here.
Almost always gave a wave of thanks from blokes, women never do it.

I've noticed this too. The majority of them will even make eye contact with you at a T junction for instance and you think "great, she's seen me and is going to let me out by the looks of it", only for her to sit there blocking your exit as she pulls up to the car in front.

Personally, I like to aid other drivers wherever possible to keep junctions clear and keep traffic moving.

I've just remembered another recent incident in my road. There are cars parked either side, only realistically room for one car at a time to travel down it.

Someone was indicating to turn right onto their drive, another car just moved forward to allow them to do that, but couldn't go any further forward because of a parked car in front of them (this was In full view of anyone on the road).

A middle aged lady then came hurtling down the road in a Korean hatchback with a 'I want to get through!' expression on her face and sat on the rear bumper of the car that had just moved forward. She just hadn't registered what was going on and completely jammed the road as she wouldn't reverse.

Probably lacking the mental capacity to drive the car (according to Sterling Moss) and non-verbally communicate.

I agree. Female drivers seem to be less considerate on the roads.

Probably just a coincidence they were women, it's likely that they were immigrants.

They think it's a sign of you hitting on them.

I think it might be a blessing in disguise, as if they had to take their hand off of the steering wheel in front of you, they could end up in the front of you.

It's odd, I was coming on PH tonight to post this very topic !

this morning on my way to work I was heading down my street, as usual there were car parked on both sides meaning you can only pass oncoming traffic at the various junctions that join the road, it's easy, oncoming traffic waits next to a gap by a junction, I then go in the gap and get out of their way, they carry on, so do I.

Not this morning, woman in a beat to death Astra races right up to me as I am trying to reach the next pull in gap. blocks the gap, then she sits there looking at me and pointing at me to reverse, problem is there is nowhere to go because the two pull-ins further back have people in them waiting for the woman to get past me, except she can't and I can't let her.

She got all shouty and it was my fault. Then, another woman decided everyone else was waiting in the pull ins to allow her to overtake and come right up my arse, I then have two stroppy women to deal with.

I decided to just sit there until they got bored and used their brains to work it out.

I could have posted that word for word, except the multitasking crap at the end.
The multitasking crap is semi-ironic wink

It would be a shame if he was, that means there are two chaps getting home from work tonight and there will be no dinner on the table, and the ironing will not be done.

I find that, on average, men are more switched on to the whole "process" of driving a car whereas for women it's something they "do" to get somewhere (work, shopping, getting nails done, other random woman-stuff).
