2nd iphone (4) - after the first one died and now another issue - but this time out of warranty frown

Battery doesn't charge despite it saying that it is charging - new battery put in and still doesn't work, charger is fine (tested).

Going on the internet sounds like a common issue frown

There is a 2 year guarantee by European law, so when did you buy it? Of course it won't help matters with you disassembling it.

My brother had this problem with an iPhone. If I can be arsed to talk to him I'll ask if he found a solution.

2 year guarantee??? I just paid £130 for my 64GB 4S to be replaced by Apple. It's around 18 months old... are you saying they should have given it me free instead of at cost?

Apple just said that as the phone was bought through Vodafone, the second year is the networks responsibility. So I rang Vodafone - and they say that it's nothing to do with them and it's Apple who should replace at no charge.

Basically; each one is saying it's the other. I'm annoyed that the woman who did my swap mentioned nothing of this... especially as she commented on the 'as new' condition of my 18 month old phone. I now have an Apple rep' looking to clarify this and get back to me.

If it's definitely out of warranty swap the battery over, literally 10 mins work.

It depends of a battery is considered a 'wear and year' item.

despite my best efforts to ruin my 4s with jailbreaking and constant hacking, still never crashes smile

They were kind enough to relieve me of £55 and replace the dud with a different battery which they thankfully gave a warranty for 3 months. I'm glad they did as this one is borked too.

I don't think I have ever experience 'duff batteries' on any of my ios devices. What are you doing to them? hehe

After a lot of toing and froing; Apple still claim that Vodafone are responsible (my gut says they are right) - and Vodafone say Apple are... basically, both claim that they did not sell me the phone. Voda have said that they sold me the tariff / cobtract and not the phone so they are not responsible.

For the sake of £130, I won't be bothering to chase this but it does wind me up that neither would own up in relation to the EU law.

Did you get it from Vodaphone on a contract? If so, then your 'contract' is with them, I would imagine. At least the ball should be in their court to help you.
