We came the other way past Loch Bad a'Ghail (Sassenach - Badnagyle.

i decided not to go on to Applecross on my long 1000 miles journey round the highlands and islands.
I loved the road from Eilean Donan castle up to Loch Carron then to Torridon although quite abit of it was single track so not that fast.
I certainly didnt encounter any real traffic and was a bit sad that i didnt see any pistonheaders or decent cars, the best thing i saw was an R8 going the other way.
report to come shortly with photos.

For some of us the whole point of Scotland is to get away from other traffic , whether interesting or not . To be honest the more convoys of cars I see the more I would avoid the road in future.Maybe I 'm spoiled as I first drove to Cape Wrath 30 odd years ago but I'd hate to see the Highlands become just another tick in the box like the Evo triangle appears to be . TBH it's only about 20 days a year we get 'enthusiasts in convoys' on the Applecross road... Bank hols, etc. most of the rest of the time it's as quiet here as always. The last three times I've driven round the 'loop', I've seen one or two cars at most. Having said that I do tend to time it when I know it'll be quiet.Im actually up in Lochinver today, decided to drive one of my fave roads from Achiltibuie to Lochinver. I saw one car... Which if you know the road is probably just as well as 'single track' is a massive overstatement for parts of it!
Wall to wall sun too!

The Porsche convoy were the only vehicles we saw the entire morning. It added a little spice to the occasion as the two decks were shuffled.
We had a similar but more surreal meeting of convoys on the Talla Reservoir road a few years ago. We were a convoy of classic British sportscars and we met a convoy of classic massey tractors coming the other way. RE:
This is one of the wider bits.

It starts there and heads up the coast to Lochinver. The last 10 miles just south of Lochinver are stupidly pretty. Esp at this time of year. A billion primroses and a gazillion gorse bushes.
Indeed. We went that way to Durness 3 weeks ago today.GetCarter said:
Here beside Loch Lurgainn? What's the Achiltibuie-Lochinver road like just now surface wise?
I have done it many times in the past by S2000 and VFR, but a bit reluctant to take my new Evora over it - I know they improved bits of the surface a few years back, but the edges were a bit sharp if I recall correctly.
Plus, while a roofless Honda roadster is a doddle to reverse, a lower, tad wider, rear engined car with a letterbox rear window is a right royal PITA.
