Mine only amounts to fifty miles a week, so it's weekend rides to top up for me. Over fuelling is the next issue to sddress...

Anyone here done the Downslink Guildford - Brighton ride? I'm eyeing that up at the moment.

I have been trying to build up to all five. But thats a 210mile week. So unsurprisingly I haven't made it so far.

On the bike today, amazing how a few days off shows in the legs, nearly 10 minutes down on pace...

Best is 3 out of 5, but it is usually a work related event that buggers my plans.

This time next week Rodders....

I downloaded Strava yesterday and am currently doing 55-59 minutes of cycling at an average of just under 15mph on my Orpington > City commute, I'll take that smile

It will be interesting to watch as my commute will give me 150 miles a week in the saddle give or take, hopefully aligned with the Paleo diet im currently on the timber will continue to fall smile

Ridden 4 days out of 5 this week, making a total of 84 miles just commuting. Lost well over half a stone now since I have been back on the bike smile
Top effort! I do about 75km a week (that's all 5 days), which is pitiful compared with yours. I've managed to lose a similar amount of weight so far, but still another 12-14 kg to go before I get to where I should be. Might have to start extending the ride home...
Likewise. A winter of indulgence and a baby in January really helped my pile on the weight. I have nearly 3st to get back down to the weight I was when I raced frown

66 miles this week, based on 3 days commuting. I've gone to the gym 3 days this week too for light weights and additional cardio.

Feeling good smile

First day I can remember this year without a significant wind.

PB time into work as a result and PRs on 5 out of 6 segments biggrin

The benefits of patience, sooner or later everything comes together on a run. Good work

Cycled to work yesterday for this first time this year having hardly ridden since last autumn. Very nice it was too. I used my vintage Viking on tubs for a change. Averaged 14.24mph for 12.2 miles with a max of 30.06mph from Totton to Whiteley.

That's a fair effort yes.

Rode in today and, despite having a good time and a little tailwind and no rain, something was niggling at me ALL the way in - you know, that troublesome little niggle that just wont go away, something....something......

then it all became clear when I got to my desk and found I'd forgotten shirt and tie - should make for some interesting meetings this morning......

I had that same niggling feeling this morning as well. In my case, it was my towell that I'd left at home...

I started at the beginning of May cycling into work. I have already clocked up 166k so far cycling two or three times a week.

Quite pleased considering I have had a long lay-off the bike. The Garmin & Strava have provided the motivational push required.

Even took the singlespeed this morning!

some days it all just comes together perfectly.

no real wind to speak of.
bike rode incredibly smoothly.
gear changes were sweet and precise
somehow i was always in the 'perfect' gear
the roads seemed much smoother today - how or why i don't know
beat my best average speed on the commuter bike by 0.1 mph

didn't want it to end really. shame it was only 8.5 miles

great start to the week.

I too had that niggling feeling this morning. I realised half way in that I'd forgotten my helmet! hehe

My excuse was that I was distracted by virtue of being on my new steed for the first time, having finally picked it up on Saturday afternoon after interminable delays waiting for it to be shipped from the factory....

Being able to ride with fully laden panniers without them banging the spokes on corners - as was the case previously with a cantilever pannier rack clamped to the seatpost - was an absolute joy, and it's unbelievably comfortable to ride. smile

I'm still getting used to the double tap mechanism on the groupset (SRAM Force), but it's sooooo much better than the Campag Centaur groupset on my other bike! Lovely, sharp, firm action and a nice, reassuring little clunk when it engages a new gear. If I had the spare cash, I'd be enormously tempted to swap out the Campag stuff and bang it on Ebay. I do keep trying to find something to do with my thumbs though! hehe

The brakes aren't as strong as I'd hoped, although that could be down to them needing to bed in, I suppose, and is certainly flavoured by being used to hydraulic discs on my MTB, but overall it's a wonderful bike! cloud9

I like that, very nice and looks like the perfect commuting bike biggrin How is riding with one pannier? Does it not make the bike handle slightly weirdly with all the weight on one side?

Did that a few weeks ago too tongue out

(helmets are mandatory here, so it was a bit of an oversight...)

There's plenty of me in the middle to keep it stable!

Having said that, I actually had a pannier laptop bag on this morning as well - I'd just taken it off to get more bike and less bag in the photo! hehe

In all seriousness, when I do only have one on, it's because I've been able to leave my laptop at work for the following day, so at most it will have spare tube, tools and a couple of shirts in it. Certainly nothing particularly heavy. If anything, it's more of an issue when I do have two on, because the laptop will always be significantly heavier.

Nice ride home if a bit windy. Going to give the SS a miss and take the road bike later in the week, needed too higher cadence to get anywhere fast. Looked like a man possessed! Probably going to miss my 250k Strava target for May unless I get out in my holiday (half term week)

You want to see the guy who commutes on a bike polo bike up CS7. He's faster than motorbikes up to about 3mph, then it all goes a bit wrong! hehe

Anyway, 6 personal top 3 segments for me tonight. Like new bike! biggrin
