Porsche GT3 Gen 2
Looked at Porsche network 2009 model in North West. Car looked stunning, the whole demo experience was shocking. I went thinking I might purchase on day, left knowing I wouldn't buy purely on basis salesperson was an absolute knob and disgrace. Engine immense, clutch is heavy and everything else seemed good. Really f*cked off with this dealer though!
It alarms me how common reports like this are. Of all marques, Porsche keeps coming up as the one that polarises opinions of the sales experience, and I believe it well founded too. I have twice bought cars from OPCs and been happy with the experience (and if you need a salesman at Reading or Cambridge I have recommendations to offer) and there are a number of salesmen at other franchises who have genuinely failed to sell me cars that I might otherwise have bought. So feel free to give up on a dealer, but don't give up so easily on the car Looked at Porsche network 2009 model in North West. Car looked stunning, the whole demo experience was shocking. The clutch is something that you do get used to, but if you commuted in it and sat in traffic jams you could then grow to resent it. Viable as a daily driver as long as you don't do any first gear motoring in that...
Dealer memory just annoyed me from first moment. I travelled 100 mile to be asked with in 2 minb-are you serious in potentially buying vehicle!!!
Trevor Finn of Stratstonevwould be appalled, idiot should of quaffed me before my 100 mile journey.
I digress! I still don't know if car was much better than MK 1 from that drive. If it was I would of discussed purchase. Anyway now looking at alternative so not given up!
Thanks

As you have had a GTR and loved it, why don't you take another look?
I'm seriously tuned into a Litchfield GTR as my next car.
Three big reasons;
1. Apparently the Litchfield suspension upgrades transform the car. It handles massively better and rides better, being compliant and fluid over country roads while the regular GTR crashes and bangs a bit more like a GT3,
2. You can have a simple tune up with a variable boost control on the steering wheel. Potter when you want to, have performance like a Veyron whenever you fancy it.
3. The car carries a full warranty and a service plan.
It's probably all the car anyone would ever need.
I've been reading the GTR forums and some long term owners of GTRs have been blown away by the Litchfield suspension. Better quality shocks and roll bars etc, has provided them with renewed passion for their cars.

Having just moved from the then new 2011 R8 V10 to a Turbo S Cabriolet, i know you wont go wrong if you chose the R8...fantastic car, clearly the new S-Tronic version just come out is going to be better but i never found the R-Tronic to be a issue and it performed brilliantly for me around the track and normal roads etc... its a great car and the engine note is just amazing when you put that foot down.
Whilst looking at my next car from R8 it ended up being between the GTR (new 2014) version and a Porsche, i only went for the Turbo S in end as 1) the Turbo S on sale was one of the very last to be built with only 16 miles on clock porsche gave me a great discount/bargain given the new S was due to come out later in 2013 so was difficult to resist 2) Whilst the GTR was growing on me i just thought i would get bored with the look of the car once i got over the performance aspect, could say the same for the turbo also but i think the porsche is the better looking car + Nissan never got back to me, as they promised, about the 2014 model due out this summer whilst porsche gave me the better treatment...so it was an easy decision for me in end and i dont regret it. The only down side of the Turbo is the engine note but i can live with that.
Good luck with your choice.

Hi Sagman,
Have you considered a GTS, I have a 911 Carrera 4 GTS, it is in PDK, though I am purely converted to PDK,
(new GT3 comes in PDK mode)Very good drive and good prices. I purchased mine new (12) nearly a year ago and managed to negotiate a great discount. Some new ones still around in dealers going for £80k, I am sure you could negotiate a deal.
I too fancy a R8 V10 cabriolet, as is a stunning looker, though the build and quality does not just seem in the same bracket as Porsche.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Decision finally made, Audi R8 V10 in White/carbon and full carbon package + manual!!
Really challenging decision but wow what an decision to be able to make. Final decision came down to four cars:
Audi R8 v10
Jaguar F Type V8
Porsche 911 GT3 gen 2
Porsche 991 C2 pdk.
This will be my only car bar access to partners Insignia when needed. So needs to be usable 12 months and everyday. Although loved PDK and Jag auto, a spirited drive in 110hp Insignia, having to work lack of power & handling the one aspect I loved is trying to perfect manual, rev matching, heel and toe etc. so manual was a must.
GT3 great but every day 12 months was just a bit much, I crave the 991 GT3 and will work my arse off to get but one sight of a boring drk grey R8 yesterday convinced me that I would enjoy just walking up, driving to shops every time not worrying about how long oil temp gets to speed.
Final feelings:
Audi R8 - so looking forward to really driving it, finding its limits. Capristo exhaustt needed to finish off.
Jaguar F Type V8 - just stunning but waiting for coupe to come out before possible purchase. Plus don't fancy buying new Jag at £86k!
Porsche GT3 - day to day just not for me. Hope the 991 is realised. I may regret not buying though...
991 C2 - A exceptional package. Loved the car and I did back to back with 997 GT3 gen 2 and It held its own. But want manual for one last time and feel Audi better with manual box.
Thanks for great ideas and feedback. Pics and review of Audi will follow. Hoping a certain Porsche is my next car though !,

If you want an exhaust for the V10 I highly recommend the Quicksilver ones, they sound immense!
Congratulations !
A lovely car, it sounds like the perfect car for your requirements.
I prefer a car to have a bench or something behind the rear seats for handy storage, so it would have been 911 vs Litchfield GTR for me.
I see your point about the manual shift, mind you. And the R8 has a proper clackety-clack gated shift.
Good for you. Post piccies please.

Pick it up in about 3 weeks then off for a trip to Switzerland with the wife for a week, going to try and find a few nice roads over there, we did a few passes a couple of years ago in my 964 turbo and loved it.
