Incorrect. The AP kit for manaro uses specific calipers and discs, except the actual front disc minus bell. The kit was supplied to HSV as an option on australian sold HSV variants.
Compared to other AP kits, these are excellent value.
thanks for that it surprises me that the calipers are specific to that car .i did say in my earlier post it wasnt a bad price when i broke it all down .however i,m pretty sure there will be something that will bolt on with a little machining .there are lots of 4 pots out there but the the thing is will a four pot be worth all the time involved .you have to remember these cars are worth very little they are a lot of car for the money .so its easy to spend 5k on brakes /suspension/tyres and thats before you make it go faster .i may just buy a car with all the bits on if i can find one .Compared to other AP kits, these are excellent value.

The value of the car doesn't have any bearing on the cost of manufacture though.
Also done many brake conversions on the race car and various road cars over the years, so when the other half got a CV8 something had to be done
Did some research, came up against the same obstacle ie. rear drums. But after looking at drawings decided it could be done Monaro drum dia. = 190mm, BMW = 185mm, cut 16mm out of brake shoe, welded back together, job done
So for the last year it's been running Range Rover 360mm discs up front and BMW X5/X6 345mm on rear, used VXR8 calipers which just had delivery mileage on them, made brackets to mount. Total cost including pads, aeroquip flexible and cuppro-nickel hard lines came to about £800.

fluffy, thats exactly what i was planning to do. Thats why i didnt mind paying over £300 for the Hawk pads as i am going to keep the stock calipers and just make new brackets for the bigger discs. I was going to go with the range rover fronts and try and make the BMW fit the rears. Did you just literally cut the hand brake shoe down and weld it back? I was considering machinging a couple of mm of the disc and a couple of the shoe but your idea sounds easier.
Did you use any kind of spigot ring as the RR disc has a slightly larger centre bore, as does the BMW IIRC.
The hawks feel really good so if i can get that same feel with a bit better cooling i will be happy.
It may save me a bit of time if you happen to have any photos or a template for the caliper bracket? if you dont want to post up, would you mind emailing me on antnicuk@msn.com
thanks

but be careful when pricing stuff up for parts, always remmebr to include import tax and VAT on top, odds on once you have done that you wont be far short off the price of an off the shelf ap kit here.
http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513466That is the link to a guy in Australia who already did installed the same kit I have. Actually if you go on Amazon the prices are fairly reasonable.
