For the drivers to be saying "The tyres are st because they wear out after x laps and I want them to last y laps" is a bit ridiculous. Stop moaning and change the car/strategy to suit what you have to work with. All teams are in the same boat. If some teams make their cars work better with the tyres, then they are the ones doing the better job. If they work out a better strategy, they are the ones going to win.
It wouldn't be so bad if the tyres were wearing out after 15-20 laps of foot to the floor flat out driving, but that's not what is happening. What is happening if that the tyres are wearing out after a dozen or so laps with the drivers driving at 8/10ths trying their best to look after the tyres. If they'd driven flat out in Spain some drivers would have run out of slicks and had to finish on full wets. Forget 4 stops, that's how many they needed on an economy run, flat out we'd be in double figures.

Anyway, all moot now the FIA have told Pirelli not to make any changes other than to prevent failures, which does seem to imply the failures were down to Pirelli, by the way.
Pirelli can change whatever they want in the name of safety, it gives them a very wide remit to do whatever they want.
Maybe but I don't think they'll have the guts to do the right thing in this case.

So what we'd like to see then, is a tyre somewhere in between the Granite Bridgestone and the stilton cheese Pirelli's...

no,

what we need is a tyre that actually has a working window where the cars can be driven to their limits, even if that window is only 10-20 laps long.

what we have now is a tyre that as soon as you lean on it, falls apart, no matter if it's the hard or soft option.

I would be happier of the tyres were hard as nails, but would not fall apart of they spent 20 laps drifting the cars around

Look, I randomly picked 2003 as it's 10 years ago, like I said before, go pick another one if you don't like it.
About four posts up you explained that you picked those years for a specific reason, but now you say they were picked at random. Make your mind up.
err, where?

this is what i said

So?
The point about qualifying times vs race times still stands, no matter what cct.

Pick some other ones then, I just took 10 and 20 years back.
And earlier up page 4 you said, in a reply to me:

so yes, as it happens, I picked 2 years when some pretty drastic changed were made to slow the cars down.
This suggested you'd chosen those years specifically, because you mentioned the regulation changes that happened in those years.

Without wishing to wade too deep into this 'tit-for-tat' discussion, may I suggest that where Scuffers commented 'as it happens' is not to suggest the dates were specifically selected but that it was a 'co-incidence' regulation changes occurred.

I.e. The dates were selected ten years apart;
