I think it stems from the days when I was heavily into Alfa Giulia coupes.

They came in some pretty fantastic 60's/70's hues however I was brainwashed by my peers that a Bertone coupe simply must be Alfa Rosso. So had my 2000GTV painted accordingly. I now detest red. On E Types, Astons, Impact Bumper 911's and Lambo's and Ferrari's. On TR's, MG's and Triumph's

The only problem is I have a small collection of red microcars. In this scene (actually like all classic cars) you buy on condition. With the really rare stuff you take what you're given. So out of my four micros three are red!

I'm a firm believer in originality so will not alter their colour.

Oddly enough I like a red 993 or 997. I think maybe because they're mega rare in guards as silver etc was much more fashionable.

Hmm.
close your eyes your going to hate this then

I love seeing cars which are usually resale silver/black/grey/white in a good bright red - some of them look really great, and I'd definitely choose a good red over monochrome! All photos courtesy of Google...

Depends on the car TBH. Some look fantastic in Red, others, like just about any Vauxhall in red that I've seen recently fade like something very fadey.

Thing is, if I were after, say, an E46 M3 I'd avoid grey, silver and black like crazy and would want something like thisor this instead.

Having spent the afternoon with a bloody great big marine buffing machine and fiberglass marine heavy-duty cutting compound, the red Fiat is looking a bit better. 30 years of black cack came off, now must treat the paint to a new item in it's life.

Wax.

My old astra was once red. Then it went pink. If you spent 4 hours t Cutting it, it would be red again for 3 weeks, before it would turn pink.

I was so incensed by the colour that I drove it into a lamp post.

I hate red cars too.

The only colours I hate are brash yellow and more so gold cars. I quite like red but not on large barges though. I liked my mr2 mk1 in red once fading was sorted.

I didn't pick it, but I'm glad I've got a red car - all my previous cars have been dull colours. It's nice to see something that isn't black, grey, silver or white on the roads, and that even goes for bright pink cars - I don't like the colour personally, but I'm glad that there's some colour on the roads.

I like red but certain cars do not suit red at at - most Jags, for example, bar the E-Type and F-Type.
I used to quite like my Alfetta in red but my favourite was my Mars Red VW Scirocco II and I also loved my parents' vermilion Princess II 2200HLS.

I find red is a very rewarding colour to polish up too, especially if it's faded slightly and despite your red hands afterwards.

I love red cars I saw a base red newish A4 the other day and it really stood out against the normal grey and silver.
I hate green cars but for some reason I keep ending up with them.

I'm biased, but I disagree...

Some of the red cars I have owned, including the current left of field choice....

I guess whoever is responsible for painting the Royal Mail fleet uses the same paint supplier as Vauxhall. Anyone else noted Mail vans turning pink !

I would have thought that a thread about red cars would have an element of 'value add' if some actual pictures of red cars to demonstrate views (either way) were included?

Alternatively, if the thread is not to your liking you can always ply your equally valuable comments elsewhere. biggrin
