I've heard that, though really Sid Vicious was never really there for the music was he?

Slayer -South of Heaven - A teenage oh my god moment
Nirvana - Nevermind - resounded with a new career that I had chosen
Radio 6 Music, every week I hear something amazing and my hard earned is drained into the iTunes accounts.

Probably different albums at different ages...

Thin Lizzy - Black Rose and 10cc - How Dare You when I was about 10 and kept me away from pop music
Iron Maiden - Live After Death when I was about 13
Pearl Jam - Ten at the age of about 20'ish was what I was looking for at the time

Since then, probably Sleepy Jackson - Lovers as it was finally an Aussie album I could listen to biggrin

Best gatefold sleeve ever, I used to sit in front of my Midi-system playing that with the sleeve open, helped to visualise the concert.

Three different ones for me. These sent me off in all different directions musically. And I'll be forever grateful to them. smile

At the time, the Street sounds Electro albums were the centre of my musical universe. I loved them unconditionally. Then it went all rap & I lost interest. Two of the most enduring tunes from the time.

Aah the joys of being a 14 year old lad sat on a park bench or the local underpass and a mate turns up with his rasta blaster (sorry politically correct types) and started blasting this stuff out. Magic! smile

Loads of good memories here so far, and many that resonate with me.

One of the ones that really 'changed my life' was Marillion's Brave.

I'd been a fan for years before that, but that album affected me in a way I hadn't expected. Coincidence of time, place and events of course, but by golly it made an impact.

Lots of defining individual songs (I too grew up with the Electro's). However, for me the defining album for me was this......

Clubbing was a major part of my life during the mid 90's - I recall Leftism first being played after we had got back from a amazing night at The House in Nottingham. After that point it became our default post-club 'relaxation' album.

Ditto.

Then famous Dutch DJ Ferry Maat changed his radio Soul Show to entirely play that album. Legend.

I really like Journey through the secret life of plants, but don't tell anyone. boxedin

Anything Stevie really. What a patch of form he had from Music of my mind to Hotter than July. Such a musical giant.

For me it was this record:

A few of us, if like me, were enjoying Jean Michel Jarre without knowing what we were listening to, watching demos on the AMIGA back in the 90's. Quite a popular album to rip, used on a number of discs, the tracks played well in the day on the midi board inside the Amiga. Popcorn was/is great!

A link to popcorn if you're too young to remember it, or were kidnapped (or lived underground with badgers) during that generation.

Scream for me,Long Beach!

I was 12 when I picked this up in 1990 in John Menzies in Poole because I was attracted the the cover art on the double cassette, at the time the only other album in my collection was Michael Jackson's 'Bad'. Has fuelled a metal and classic rock passion that lasts till today.

Oddly, these 3 had a massive impact on me: when they came out:
- Local DJs used Kraftwerk stuff in their mixing: together with SoulSonicForce and Malcolm McLaren stuff.
- my encounter to disco / electro mixing
- 'William' was a smash in my face!

Again local DJs used JMJ stuff in their mixing . . . early 80s were adventurous.

Good call. Great record.

Every single song is either about getting stoned, being stoned, or coming down from being stoned. biggrin
