I can't really put the phone in a trouser pocket because it's so big, it's uncomfortable whenever I sit. So I don't get the bumper issue described above. I tend to either put it in a shirt pocket, my jacket pocket, or the side pocket of a pair of combats.
It's a Nexus 4 not a Galaxy Note 2!
I had the latter before the Nexus 4 and that is a big beast alright. The Nexus 4 doesn't really seem large at all compared to most high end smartphones these days.

You're kidding right? Are these your yeans:
Can't you just put the phone in your purse?

Serious post now, anyone here have the official bumper?
I do, and quite frankly, its rubbish. I mean, it looks nice enough, I can't deny that, but it constantly slips off the bottom left corner
I've got the official bumper and don't have this problem - however I don't wear tight jeans! Seriously though, just had a feel of it and it doesn't feel like it would easily slip off.I do, and quite frankly, its rubbish. That's just it though, when its in my hand it feels like it will stay on, but as soon as it goes in my jeans pocket, and I start crouching down or sitting, it'll come straight off.I don't wear anything that could be described as tight, they just have normal sized pockets.
It's frustrating because I like the design and look and feel of the bumper, but it just seems useless.

TRD - don't sit while yer phone is in yer pocket!
I've been putting phones in my back pocket since I first got a mobile back in the 90's, and it's second nature to take it out before I sit down.
Who said anything about back pocket? I've been putting phones in my back pocket since I first got a mobile back in the 90's, and it's second nature to take it out before I sit down.

I always keep it in my right hand pocket, and if I get into the habit of taking it out when I sit down or squat (as I have to do regularly in my job, and not just taking a dump, either), then I would almost certainly end up losing the phone

Thanks for that.
Although today, my satnav found it's location within seconds while my girlfriends Nexus 4 on EE took so long that I gave up. Normally it's very quick.
Is it just different signal strengths, as sometimes I have max bars but useless satnav.
Same for picture messages, it seems to be a lottery if I can send them or not.

The nexus 4 has GPS (like basically every other modern smartphone) but also knows how to talk to glonass (ie the Russian equivalent of GPS).Although today, my satnav found it's location within seconds while my girlfriends Nexus 4 on EE took so long that I gave up. Normally it's very quick.

It uses the Glonass data to get a faster lock for GPS. You might want to check if that's switched on or not.

Operator signal strength and satnav aren't related - completely different tech. Some apps may use operator's signal and/or wifi to help with location but outside satnav would normally be used.
No idea about messaging... I'd expect if you have a signal to be able to send/receive text/MMS messages.

Agreed to a degree, though for the fix time, you might want to read up on A-GPS.Because most smartphones these days use A-GPS, the fix time might be greatly reduced when having a cell signal, or increased when not having one.
